Hello!

I have a Rounder L700 that I acquired a couple years back now --
anyone happen to have specs for the tension spring that engages the
idler when the clutch engage lever is turned?

I'm in need of a replacement for this spring, but I haven't had much
luck. We have an Ace Hardware in town, but their closest looking
springs are incredibly weak and immediately bend open and fly away as
soon as the lever turns to stretch it.

Thanks,

Kyle Evans

I checked some manuals and could not find the specs for this spring. I had to work on my father's rounder recently and took some measurements.  It is a 5/8" OD x 3-1/2" long extension spring with loop ends. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my hanging scale so I can't give you an accurate tension. The spring stretches up to 6" when installed (without engine and pulley in place). I would buy McMaster Carr springs.  8594N125 at 1.7 lbs/in.- when engaged it would apply about 4lbs of tension.  or 8594N133 at 3.4 lbs/in. - when engaged would be about 8 lbs of tension. or if you like stainless steel then 4992N699 at 4.165 lbs/in. - when engaged it would apply about 10 lbs of tension.
