 June 2013

Time to finalize goals for the year
Has your club set goals for the coming Rotary year? Remind 2013-14 club leaders, including presidents-elect, secretaries, treasurers, foundation chairs, and membership chairs to sign into Member Access and click on Rotary Club Central, where they can enter their 2013-14 club goals. Also, 2012-13 club leaders can report their club’s achievement for the past year.
Upcoming web events
Rotary Club Central: What’s in it for you?

If you’re not quite sure how Rotary Club Central can help your club prepare for the coming year, there’s a webinar this month that can help. Join this 60-minute session (in English only) to hear Rotarian panelists share their experiences with this online tool and tell you how they use it to track their clubs’ progress toward goals.

Wednesday, 12 June, 10:00-11:00 (Central Time); check your local time

Please note that this is not a demonstration, though we will offer demos in coming months.

Get ready for Membership Month!

An interactive webinar will help you prepare for Membership & Extension Month in August. It will feature discussions about key membership trends, membership priorities, this year’s Membership & Extension Month activities, Rotary’s online member referral system, and how you can get involved. And we’ll encourage your participation in membership quizzes.
This webinar is in English only.

Thursday, 13 June, 18:00-19:00 (Central Time); check your local time
Online registration for RI Convention ends soon
After 15 June, you will be able to register only on-site in Lisbon, Portugal, for the 2013 Convention, which runs 23-26 June. Visit the RI Convention website for details.

Follow the convention on Twitter with #ricon13.
Learning about Rotary online
Rotarians can now learn about their organization at learn.rotary.org, where they will find interactive courses on topics including the RI Strategic Plan and Rotary’s areas of focus. Rotarians can customize their user profiles, track their progress, and print certificates when they complete courses. And each course has its own online community where learners can interact with one another. To register for a course, sign in to Member Access and click on “Learn.”
Forward Training Talk
If you know any club or district trainers who will take office on 1 July, introduce them to Rotary Training Talk by using the “Forward email” link below.
Training tip
When creating an original PowerPoint presentation, use visuals along with your words. This facilitates active learning, enabling the audience to better connect with your content.

Start by writing a headline that clarifies what you want to illustrate and then use an appropriate image instead of additional text. You can use photos from Rotary Images or from your Rotary club. And you can build diagrams and charts to enhance your PowerPoint content.

Email your training tips to traini...@rotary.org.
