"Rotary Global History Fellowship, an authorized fellowship" <mem...@rghf.org>

Rotary International and Rotary Fellowships
Question?
Are Rotary Fellowships part of Rotary?

This feature is the result of two things. One, that some Rotarians have told us they won't join RGHF because we're "not part of Rotary." Secondly, RGHF wanted our readers to know more about fellowships.

Fellowships of Rotarians are part of Rotary. Rotary approved the first fellowship in 1928. Read the full history at www.globalnetworkinggroups.org

Read what Rotary International has to say at www.rotary.org/FELLOWSHIPS

An article, by one of our RGHF senior leaders tells the story, that's below. But, what does this fellowship, Rotary Global History Fellowship do for Rotary?

Here are a few links that you may find interesting, and they are only a tiny part of the work we've done, and continue to do, for Rotary, since 11 October 2000.

A message from RGHF Group D Global Chair Frank A. Longoria. Please share this message with your fellow Rotarians. There are Rotarians who believe that fellowships are not part of Rotary. Many have never heard of fellowships.

"THE INTRINSIC VALUE OF MEMBERSHIP IN RGHF"

"During the many years that I have been a member of RGHF, I have never once wavered from my firm conviction that there is an enormous intrinsic value in being a member of this Fellowship. Why, then, are some Rotarians not convinced of that, and even scorn the fellowship because "it is not a part of Rotary International." A brief survey of all of the Rotary Fellowships reveals the fact that all of them are fully independent of Rotary International and that none of them belongs nor has any connection with Rotary International; however, they are all officially approved by Rotary International, including The Rotary Global History Fellowship. All of them must follow the guidelines set by Rotary. So, although they are not funded by Rotary, they are legitimate organizations within Rotary. That is, no Fellowship could even exist without the official approval by Rotary International For more information, please check this link. www.globalnetworkinggroups.org

All Fellowships were created for the purpose of providing an avenue for better fellowship among Rotary members, while also providing a venue for enjoyment and discussion of a special interest or a hobby such as wine-tasting, Gourmet cooking, motorcycling, fishing, playing musical instruments, etc.

The Rotary Global History Fellowship is different only in one important aspect: that is, besides providing excellent fellowship and a mutual interest in the Global history of Rotary, it also strongly supports Rotary International by diligently researching and archiving the total Global history of Rotary throughout the world. It is, in reality, the only Fellowship that always works diligently in an endeavor that fully supports Rotary International. Its members work daily towards providing the Global history of Rotary to all present and future members of Rotary International. Because of this loyal support of Rotary International through its work of archiving the Global history of Rotary, RGHF is worthy of the support of its present members and any future members.

All present and potential members should be proud to support an organization that does so much on behalf of Rotary International. All present and potential members can be proud of an organization that strives to make Rotary International stronger through the study of its Global history. RGHF is an organization that not only provides an avenue for fun activities and fellowship for its members, but it also actually supports Rotary International by providing details of its Global history for the enjoyment of present and future members of Rotary International.

I realize that many potential members of RGHF first look at what might be the negative aspects of joining a Fellowship such as RGHF. However, I wish to reassure you that your membership is not in vain, and that by joining you are not only gaining the benefits of membership like fun activities and excellent fellowship, but also supporting Rotary International. So, when you hear the words: "I am not interested because it is not part of Rotary," you can answer: Of course, it is part of Rotary, as all other Fellowships are; however it is the only Fellowship that actually supports Rotary International, and I am sure that you would be proud to be a member of an organization that does actually support Rotary.

It is clearly evident that not all Rotarians are going to join RGHF nor any other Fellowship, for that matter. However, we must remember that there are over 1 million Rotarians in the world, and that if only a fraction of them become dedicated RGHF members, we would have all we need! The stated motto of RGHF is: "We must find a handful of Rotarians who dedicate their lives to the history of Rotary, so that thousands more might dedicate their lives to Rotary.

So, with this in mind, let us go out with enthusiasm in our cause, and attempt to find that "handful" of Rotarians who will be proud to join our organization.
