June 2025 Ideas for strengthening membership
Use online surveys to enhance your club experience
As you prepare for the new Rotary year, remember that engaged members lead to a vibrant club. Members are more likely to be engaged when their needs are met, and the best way to understand your members’ needs is to ask about them. You can use a member interest survey and a member satisfaction survey to gather this valuable information that will help improve your club experience.

These surveys have a new, editable online format, so you can easily customize questions for your members. The guides below will help you do that. After members complete a survey, you’ll be able to view the results online.

Creating Your Online Member Interest Survey — Customize a survey for new and prospective members so you can help them find experiences they’ll enjoy.

Creating Your Online Member Satisfaction Survey — Customize a survey for current members so you can learn how they feel about their experience in your club.

Assessing the feedback from the surveys and using it to make improvements to the club experience can lead to the long-term growth and success of your club.

Council on Legislation decision makes it quicker to form new clubs
Every three years, Rotarians meet at the Council on Legislation (COL) to review and vote on proposed changes to the documents that govern Rotary. This important event took place in Chicago from 13-17 April 2025, and representatives from every district around the world approved a variety of proposals to move Rotary forward.

One important change that will take effect on 1 July is that the number of charter members required to start a Rotary club has been reduced from 20 to 15. This will help create new clubs more quickly. Learn more in the 2025 COL Essential Changes for Clubs and Districts document, prepared by the Club and District Support team.
Recognize your peers with Rotary awards
The upcoming Rotary year presents a fresh opportunity to spotlight the hard work of our members within their clubs and communities. Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation offer a variety of awards to honor members as well as nonmembers, alumni, and clubs for their steadfast commitment to service. Each award has its own eligibility criteria, nomination process, and type — such as a certificate or an engraved crystal — designed to celebrate recipients’ achievements. By recognizing the hard work of those in your district, you not only show appreciation but also foster a sense of community engagement among members and nonmembers alike. Learn more about recognition opportunities using the Rotary’s Service Awards resource.
A reminder about how new members are counted
As you and other club leaders prepare to complete your terms, remember that members added on or before 30 June count toward the current Rotary year, 2024-25. Members added with an effective date of 1 July will count toward the new year, 2025-26. If you have questions, write to us at membership...@rotary.org.
New club takes action after devastating wildfires
The Rotary Club of Marina del Rey, California, USA, mobilized quickly to assist victims of the destructive January wildfires in Los Angeles. The club, just eight months old, organized and promoted a donation drive and established a distribution center that offered free supplies such as food and clothing to those in need. The club formed partnerships with local officials, businesses, and other Rotary clubs to respond to ongoing needs. Discover how this collaborative approach has strengthened community ties and increased interest in the club.
How Rotaract changed my life
Al-Numan credits joining a Rotaract club for helping him develop self-confidence and allowing him to give back to his community. Involved from the very start, he received multiple awards and held various leadership positions within his Rotaract club and district. Now a member of the Rotary Club of Habiganj Khoai, Bangladesh, he talks about how his Rotaract club experiences fostered his personal and professional development.
