Dear Classmate Me'anne,
I thought this Rotary Year will go without any more disaster in my district other than the flood which occurred some months ago but I was wrong. We all know that the Marawi City siege by the terrorists last week have forced thousands of residents to flee to the neighboring places like Iligan City and surrounding safer areas. Right now there a number of evacuation centers put up to accommodate these evacuees and the numbers are still rising, now totaling more than 100,000. Our Rotary clubs in that area have their hands full giving away food and non-food items to families affected by the war.
District 3870 is accepting donations in cash or in kind to help support the daily needs of thousands of our brethren, Muslims and Christians alike in these evacuation centers. We are closely coordinating with the LGU of Marawi City which is now based in Iligan, and the Philippine Red Cross as our official partner. There are many reported wounded and sick needing treatment which is expected in situations like these, so we have set up mobile clinics to serve the needs of the people.
If you are interested to donate in kind, please channel the goods through the local chapter of the Philippine Red Cross in your respective areas and send us a list of the goods donated.
For your cash/check donations, please deposit to:
- Account Name: District 3860 Disaster Management Committee, inc.
Account #: 139-7-13953122-8
Bank: Metrobank
Swift Code: MBTCHPMM
Please write your name, Rotary Club and District 3860 on the validated deposit slip and email scan/screenshot
of the validated deposit slip to:
Aside from material help, may I solicit your prayers for peace in Mindanao.
Thank you so much for your help and support.
In Rotary,
Jing
