There is huge work at our Murbad Rescue Center; we need lot of construction material, financial support to employ professional staff. Any small help is also appreciated. As you may be aware, we do not receive any Govt. grants neither we have a good corporate back-up & we are solely depend on donations from individual animal lovers like you & social trusts.

3. OUR RESCUE NOTES & CRUELTY CASES:
Since PAWS operates in and around Dombivli-Kalyan towns of Thane district areas, team busy handling different type of rescue calls this month.
# This month, PAWS Team attended & rescued a total of 51 stray cases (Average 13 cases per week), rescued animals including 15 puppies, 5 Cats, 4 Kittens, & 29 Dogs. Some animals were given immediate first aid treatment by our local vet Dr. Rohit Gaikwad. The rest were sent to PAWS Murbad Rescue Center for hospitalization according to type injuries /diseases cases received by PAWS.
# PAWS office was busy handling a total of 19 bird cases this month with average 5 birds each week, Almost 1 bird each day, while some were released same day & most of the birds were immediately hospitalized to Thane SPCA after proper isolation & treated with due intimation to kalyan forest department. Bird species which were treated includes species like Rock Pigeon, Cattle Egrets, House & Jungle Crows, Night Heron, Indian Pond Heron, Night Heron.
# With help from Forest Dept. of Kalyan, PAWS volunteers Snachit & Nilesh rescued 6 snakes from various locations of dombivli & Thakurli. The species include Indian Cobra, Rat Snake, Krait, Buff-Stripped Keel Back Snake. The snakes safely relocated within hour’s time. 2 Turtle also rehabilitated.
# 3 Animals went for adoption this month including 2 Imported Turtles & 1 puppy.
# Total of 27 wildlife rescue calls were attended in this month successfully by Team PAWS.
# Vaccinations given to strays are total 20 this month while 1 strays treated during 1 drive.
# Total reach to animals this month is - 132

SOS Rescue Call:
On 9th July 2013, @ 9PM PAWS Office Helpline received a call that one female donkey lying with an accident near shivaji chowk, probably hit by the big vehicle. PAWS team using Wats-App application on android phones (Watsapp No. 9820161114) circulated news among volunteers & within 30 minutes of span volunteers swung into action Pratima & Tejaswita drove ambulance, Janhavi, Sylvester other coordinated the rescue & witnin 1 hours time the dokey hospitalized by 11PM late night...Good work done by Team PAWS!

On, 17th July morning, PAWS office receive a call from street-passer that one cat was lying sick near Nityanand Hotel, Dombivli Station. Using Wats-App (9820161114) PAWS circulated the info...Our volunteer Alisha Bhise along with her friend immediately rushed to spot, rescued cat & taken it to Dr. Rohit Gaikwad, she got the cat treated, Cat had below 92 degree temperature, the cat kept in PAWS covered with warm cloths, but with all efforts, cat passed away, buried @ Murbad premises. 6. MONTHLY VACCINATION DRIVES FOR STRAYS:
# Evening Anti-Rabies Drive @ Dombivli East & West :
Yet another fantastic work did by Team PAWS !!!
Team PAWS participated in Anti-Rabies drive held @ Dombivli East & west yesterday. Our volunteer Dr. Lalitha Gopalan (M. V. Sc.) vaccinated the strays. Over 20 Strays given vaccinations in 1 hour drive. Team PAWS including Founder Nilesh Bhanage, Bhaskar Iyer, Tejaswita Dere, Raj Maru, and Frenny Patole & Vaibhavi Shinde assisted the vaccination drive & helped in catching & holding strays.

No wonder why Team PAWS in 'Limca Book of Records in 2005' as 'India's Youngest Animal Rehabilitation Team'!!!
Till the date PAWS vaccinated 352 animals against rabies and 4 animals were treated with first aid.
In past financial year 2012-13 Team PAWS organized total 43 drives & Vaccinated total 1179 animals & given first aid 29 animals.
7. MURBAD RESCUE CENTRE:

We have immense pleasure to have our 7 year old volunteer Crystal Fernandez as new Hospital Manager this month. Our staff strength is now as follows:
Hospital - 5, Ambulance - 2, Office - 3 = 10
## Treatments:
In this March 2013 month PAWS Murbad Rescue Center received & Treated following numbers of cases:
Total In-coming Patients – 30
Dogs – 19
Pups - 13
Cats – 3
Kitten – 2
Donkey - 1
Adoptions – 1
Pets for Burial – 1
We also look after many residential animals in centre
Resident Animals Total - 19
Dogs – 6
Pups – 0
Cats – 5
Kittens - 4
Donkey - 4
Total Animals @ center as on today – Resident + Patient = 49
## Our Need:
We started using place in November 2010. Our Staff & Security salary goes up to 75,000/- each month & total cost of running services for a month goes till 1,00,000/- which including hospital medicines, cleaning material, animals’ food etc. It is hard task for us to build this much money every month, but we do our best & pull money for our rescue operations. But we really cannot spare a single rupee for repairs & development work.The Rescue center in desprate need of makeover & we atleast need of 25,00,000/- to get it built.
Please spread the word... The donation in kind like medicines, kitchen utensils, dog food, cleaning material etc. is always needed & all in-kind donations will be acknowledged.

8. CONFERENCE / WORKSHOPS / AWARENESS / VISITORS:
##PAWS Founder Nilesh along with volunteers Mandar Sawant, Sanchit More & Raj Maru organized an Awareness Program @ Rotary Club of Dombivli East on 24th July 2013, followed by question & Answer round. PAWS Founder Nlesh gave brief presentation on Snake Species found in dombivli n surrounding areas, Snake bite Management, Myths on snakes while mandar gave info. Cruelty on snakes, his experience handling cruelty cases to members.

9. FUNDRAISING & DONATIONS:
Various NGO's are fighting day-to-day basis on streets to rescue animals, look after them, try n give them a better life from streets - Hunger, Cold, Heat & struggle 4 survivals. This made us also to stop think for a moment...we taken-up the cause @ larger scale & started PAWS. With thousands of hurdles facing each year, carrying compassion under PAWS Banner. People feel that NGO's must provide on-lip-call service, free service, and round-the-clock service as anytime there is an emergency with animal on street, highway & so on...
Very few think, how we must be carrying the entire show, handling daily helpline, rescue calls, wildlife rehab, services on time, staff management, getting resources like food, medicines, money etc. But some compassionate people think beyond an injured animal on street.# PAWS Brand Merchandise Sale:

12. SOCIETY PET DOG / STRAY FEEDING / TREE CUTTING CASES:
# On 1st July, PAWS sent stern letter to Prabhdevi CHS, mumbai wherein society taking objection on stray feeding of cats. The matter solved now.
# On 4th July, PAWS sent again notice 2 Lok-Nirman CHS, wherein volunteer Mohana Dutt faced problem in feeding cats.
# On 8th July, PAWS sent notice 2 societies of Nalaspoara who were against stray dog feeding.
# On 8th July, PAWS received a complant against hitting strays from Garden-View CHS & immediately sent letter to society’s managing committee explaining laws.
# On 9th July, PAWS sent a notice 2 Gopal Krishna Buidling wherein volunteer Vijaya Nair feeds strays in kalyan.
# On 10th July, Gurudutt CHS, objected residents on feeding strays, we sent stern notice to society.
# On 11th July, Park-View CHS, received notice notice from PAWS against threatining animal volunteers on feeding issues.
# On 15th July, PAWS sent stern letter to Vastu Sagar CHS, panvel wherein a society was taking objection on strays comin in premises during rains.
# On 16th July, PAWS sent a letter to Om Sai apartment, dombivli on same feeding issues.
July is rainy season in Mumbai, we @ PAWS received almost 10 complaints on stray feeding issues. PAWS immediate sent notices to concern also got forms filled from animal volunteers on feeder cards, provided them law copies & posters as well.
