Thougha considerable number of people have been asking how to fix failed to download config from title storage, it seems that no concrete answer can be offered at this time. The issue relates to some sort of faulty network connectivity, but the rest remains fairly mysterious.

One PS4 user has found that changing the DNS address seems to be a reliable fix, provided that you switch it around to the one provided by Google. The information is scarce, however, and even getting the problem to show up is difficult on some set-ups.

Of course, changing your DNS is not a very difficult nor time-intensive process on PC, but you could also try disconnecting and reconnecting your Internet connectivity, and - yes - restart your PC, for lack of other solutions. Hopefully, Bethesda weighs in on the problem sometime down the line and provide a more practical solution, however.

I created a storage credential and an external location. Test is ok, I'm able to browse it from the portal.

I have a notebook to create a table :

When I'm executing the notebook with a SQL warehouses cluster, it works fine ; with a standard cluster it failed with this error "Failure to initialize configuration for storage account myaccount.dfs.core.windows.net: Invalid configuration value detected for fs.azure.account.key"


I thought it was no longer needed to set fs.azure.account.key. with an external location, am I wrong ? Am I missing something ?




Thank you for your response. We found the issue. We use a ML Cluster with "no isolation shared" as access mode. This cluster is not compatible with unity. We set fs.azure.* variables in the cluster conf. like below to fix our issue:

Although you have created an external site, and it is testable from the portal, it seems like the Databricks cluster cannot access the data because it fs.azure.account.key is not set or is invalid. While it is true that you can use an external location without specifying fs.azure.account.key in some cases, it seems like your standard cluster still requires it.


1. Ensure that the storage account key (fs.azure.account.key) is correctly set in your Databricks workspace. You can set this in the DBFS configurations.

2. Verify that the storage account key is correct. You can find this key in the Azure portal under the settings of your storage account.

3. Check if the storage account and the Databricks workspace are in the same region. If not, you may need to create a VNet service endpoint.


However, if you're looking for a more secure and centralized way to manage these configurations, you might consider using Databricks secrets. Secrets in Databricks are a safe way to store and use sensitive information like access keys, passwords, or connection strings.


You can create a secret scope and store your fs.azure.* values as secrets. Then, you can reference these secrets directly in your cluster configuration. This way, the sensitive information is not exposed in the cluster configuration, and you can manage all your secrets in one place.

AWS best practices recommend replication for source and destination buckets that are owned by the same AWS account. In addition to availability, you should consider other systems hardening settings.


This control produces a FAILED finding for a replication destination bucket if it doesn't have cross-region replication enabled. If there's a legitimate reason that the destination bucket doesn't need cross-region replication to be enabled, you can suppress findings for this bucket.


To enable Cross-Region Replication on an S3 bucket, see Configuring replication for source and destination buckets owned by the same account in the Amazon Simple Storage Service User Guide. For Source bucket, choose Apply to all objects in the bucket.


Block Public Access at the S3 bucket level provides controls to ensure that objects never have public access. Public access is granted to buckets and objects through access control lists (ACLs), bucket policies, or both.


This control checks whether server access logging is enabled for an Amazon S3 general purpose bucket. The control fails if server access logging isn't enabled. When logging is enabled, Amazon S3 delivers access logs for a source bucket to a chosen target bucket. The target bucket must be in the same AWS Region as the source bucket and must not have a default retention period configured. The target logging bucket does not need to have server access logging enabled, and you should suppress findings for this bucket.
