Orianthi Live From Hollywood

FrontiersMusic Srl is pleased to present "Live From Hollywood", a new live album and long-form video from internationally renowned rock guitarist Orianthi. Available on CD/DVD and Blu-ray, "Live From Hollywood" will be released on July 15, 2022. The performance was captured on January 8, 2022 at the Bourbon Room in Hollywood, CA and sees the guitarist and her excellent backing band in fine form, playing songs from Orianthi's most recent release "O" and cuts like her hit, 'According To You'.

Live from Hollywood is the first live album/DVD by Australian guitarist, singer and songwriter Orianthi. It was released on 15 July 2022 by Frontiers Records.[1] The release features performances filmed at the Bourbon Room in Hollywood, California on 8 January 2022. This live album consists mostly of live rendition from Orianthi's fourth studio album O and other fan favorites such as "According to You".[2]

In December 2021 Orianthi took to social media to announce that she would be shooting a live DVD at the Bourbon Room in Los Angeles.[3] Seventeen songs were performed during the show, but only eleven made it onto the live release. In an interview with VWMusic the Australian singer explained that the songs that were picked for the album are the songs that the fans requested her to play at the show when she announced it on social media.[4]

In May 2022 Frontiers released the live performance of "Contagious" to promote the release.[5] The song serves as the opening track from the live album/DVD. The following month the live performance for "Sinners Hymn" was premiered.[6] On release day the live version of "According to You" was released.[7]

Mike O'Cull from Rock & Blues Muse commented positively on Orianthi's performance, stating that "Orianthi distinguishes herself all over Live In Hollywood, playing and singing with iconoclastic boldness, grace, and power."[8] Metal Digest gave the CD/DVD an 80%, praising that the release is a "beautiful, intimate performance".[9]

Orianthi has returned to recording, this time, with a live album, Live from Hollywood; which documents how entertained her audiences actually feel during her shows. The performance was captured on January 8, 2022, at the Bourbon Room in Hollywood, CA. The album was released on July 15th, of 2022, by Frontiers Music Srl.

In her distinctive Australian accent, the wunderkind guitarist begins to enthusiastically reminisce about seeing Carlos Santana on his Dance of the Rainbow Serpent concert tour at eleven years old and the memorable impression it left on her. At that moment, the optimal instrument for expressing herself and conveying emotion was revealed to her.

In the years since, the guitar prodigy has shared the stage with a number of legendary artists, from Steve Vai, Carlos Santana, and Prince to her four-year stint touring the world with Alice Cooper and performing with Michael Jackson as part of his This Is It London residency in 2009.

Orianthi recently joined me via Zoom to discuss, among other topics, the recently released Live From Hollywood, her upcoming studio album Rock Candy, Alice Cooper, and the influence that Carlos Santana has had on her career.

Andrew:

Seventeen songs were performed at the Bourbon Room show in Hollywood, but only eleven made it onto the live release. What factored into your song selection?

Andrew:

Live From Hollywood essentially acts as a table setter for your fifth studio album, which is due out later this year. What sort of updates are you able to share on that front?

Andrew:

While your virtuosity has always been evident, I was particularly struck by the depth of your songwriting on O. How would you describe your growth in that regard from your vantage point?

Andrew:

You mention Carlos, one of my all-time favorite guitar players. In addition to inspiring you to pick up the guitar, you developed a relationship with Carlos that has profoundly impacted your career. Could you elaborate on how that relationship has influenced your musical journey?
