Yesterday I was able to use the church's Till-o-Matic and last night Diane planted our 30 plants and about 7 packets of seeds!
There were 2 adults from St. Paul AME Zion and one from Rosedale UCC, and four teenagers, plus Diane and me. It was a beautiful evening and lots of fun getting our 5 new rows planted and visiting with the other volunteers.
Unfortunately, I didn't get any new photos, but here are some I took few weeks ago:
Tonight at Council Meeting I hope to get permission to have "Rainbow Mennonite Church" added to the sign in front of the garden as an official sponsor.
One of the older teenage passersby last night had a prominent black eye, and upon my questioning, identified himself as an "Octogan fighter." I asked follow-up questions and luckily, as Diane noticed it was getting dark and we had another couple of rows to plant, she said, "Phil, are we going to plant these or not?" So I abruptly ended the conversation and went back to gardening.
There is a lot you can learn while doing community gardening!
