Our next Rosebank Neighbors meeting will be an in-person meeting at Rosebank STEAM School (1012 Preston Drive) on Thursday, March 31st, from 6:00-7:30 PM.

The focus of this meeting will be the traffic calming proposal from NDOT for Mitchell Road and Preston Drive. At this meeting, the NDOT traffic calming team would like to present the proposal and discuss the petition process with neighbors.  The plan implementation requires a 70% approval from property owners on the affected street – Mitchell Road between Preston Drive and Eastland Avenue. The purpose of these calming measures is to reduce speeding on Mitchell and to ensure the safety of pedestrians, especially elementary school students walking near the school.

The NDOT traffic calming team has prepared the attached preliminary design plan for Mitchell Road in the Rosebank neighborhood based on the input received when they met with neighbors last fall. A more detailed PDF of the plan is attached. This proposed traffic calming plan includes:

  • 5 sets of speed cushions on Mitchell Road (2 speed cushions per set based on the street width)
  • A new crosswalk on Preston Drive at Mitchell Road with pedestrian warning signage
  • A painted bulb-out on the southeast corner of the Preston/Mitchell intersection to tighten the corner radius and provide an area to bring the crosswalk to the east side.  The proposed bulb-out also includes flexible delineators along the edge of the striping.

Please plan to join us at the meeting to hear more about this proposal and to share your opinions!
