Hello everyone!

I am in need of a good OpenSource Software "review" site. I use
several OS programs, but without a recommendation, I just don't feel
confident in trying any programs.

For example, right now I need a good OS ZIP/UNZIP program and a good OS
ftp program.

Where do I start?

TheFly,

It would be helpful to know whether you are using Mac, Linux or
Windows, since there are websites that focus on open source software
for all three.

I'm guessing that you might be using Windows, since Linux has Zip and
FTP support built-in that is easy to discover, and I think OS X does
decently for these tools as well.

Have you found http://www.opensourcewindows.org/ ?

It recommends FileZilla for FTP, which seems decent for me as well.

There is also http://www.theopencd.org/programs , which we link to from
the ROSCo website. It recommends "7-Zip" as an open source zip program
for Windows.

I haven't use either FileZilla or 7-Zip much myself, though....

Mark
