Hi,
I am new to ROS and Labview. I am running a ros master on a Ubuntu virtual machine, and trying to publish to a topic from a MyRIO board connected via usb. I have deployed a source distribution of ROS for Labview onto the myRIO following the instructions and also deployed a Publisher.vi script that runs on startup. I've also set the IP address in _ROSdefinitions.vi to what i think the IP address of the ros master is. However when I connect the myRIO i cannot see the topic with "rostopic list". I'm not sure where I am going wrong, I think I might be using the wrong IP address but I'm not sure where to get the correct one.

Thanks, Lewis Nicol

Hi Lewis,

The easiest way to find the IP address of your master is to open a browser and type in what is my IP. You can also find the IP address by entering ifconfig in a new terminal (should be wlan0) or, depending on your VM network configuration, your VM will have the same address as your computer. You will need the myRIO and the virtual machine to both be on WIFI in order to talk to each other. You can configure the WIFI on the myRIO per these instructions or by connecting the myRIO to your windows computer and going to 172.22.11.2 in Internet Explorer (Chrome will not work).

Hope that helps,
Whitney

Hi Whitney,

I am using a myRIO 1950 rather than a 1900. On the NI myRIO USB monitor (http://172.22.11.2), i do not have the option to create a wireless network, the only network Adapters available is "Ethernet Adapeter usb0", so I can't create a wireless network for the myRIO. Can the myRIO and linux machine not talk to each other via usb? Another question i have is would the ROS for Labview software be able to support a compact rio instead of a myRIO, as my project already uses a compact rio and I know i can connect the compact RIO to wifi.

Thanks,
Lewis
