Software seeding

I suppose fellow multimasters have the same need I have: being sure software on the various machines are up to date.

Can anyone propose a system to make updating automatic?

The updating process would probably involve:
download

configure

compile

I've used puppet to manage many servers with good success:
https://puppetlabs.com/ , and a Linux server and a ROS robot have many
of the same configuration challenges and goals.
