pattern Tracking with MoveIt!

Hi all

I am using ROS-Indigo with Ubuntu Trusty. we are working on a manipulator arm and our project demands the arm to follow certain random patterns i.e. some randomly generated signs on a plane that the robot has to replicate. I have already tried with breaking the pattern into many points and using Cartesian path planning but no good result came out of it. can anyone suggest or guide me with the proper algorithm to follow ??
