looks like you added solr searching.  do you need it?  If so I can't help much with setting it up on your server.  I remember you need to run a few commands.

Now I cannot follow the heroku guide since I am using DO (for it's price advantage), I have not set up amazon aws (do i even need to with DO ?) What do i need to do to make this work.

It's ok. Someone told me i need to set up amazon aws and authorize.net for my website to work (I don't know how all that is related). I will figure it out eventually and i will try removing solr searching to see what that does. Thanks for the tip!

More precisely, when S3 is not available does it not default to local filesystem ?
