Ihave my iPad connected to the network but my iPhone is not. It is the network at work so it is protected and I do not have access on my phone. It acts like it is connected (wifi symbol top left) but I have no internet connection since it does not actually have a connection to the server. If I "forget this network" on my iPhone, it forgets on my iPad as well. The only solution is to turn off my wifi at work and turn it on at home. I often forget and rack up a hefty phone bill by thinking I am on wifi at home when I am not. Is there any way to forget on one device without forgetting completely.
That's funny because I have the same problem, except that my Apple Watch never remembers the wifi network. I have to constantly forget the network, shut off my watch, sign into the network, then restart the watch. But this does delete the network from my iPad! Grrrrr.
I cannot think of any reason why forgetting a network on one device would forget it on another. I use both my iPad and iPhone in different locations, and will accept and deny access to different Wi-Fi networks on each, and it does not affect the Wi-Fi on the other.
What happens if you turn off the iPad at work, and then Forget the work Wi-Fi on the iPhone. Once forgotten, the iPhone should not attempt to connect to that network again, unless you manually join the network. Do you have Ask to Join Networks turned on?
What is the difference in the iPhone and the iPad that the iPad will join the network? Is this a work iPad, or at one time were you provided the password to the network? Do you have an IT department at work that you can ask?
WiFi settings sync through iCloud. So if you access a WiFi network on one device it will also be available on any other devices sharing the Apple ID, including iPads, iPod touches, iPhones and Macs. And if you "forget" a network on one device it will also be disabled on all other devices. This "feature" was added in a recent version of OS X and iOS (I think it was 8.4). The feature is needed for the Apple Watch, which has no way to set up WiFi connections. But it's just an annoyance on other devices. For example, I want my non-cellular iPad to connect to my ISP's public WiFi hotspots, but I don't want my MacBook to, because it will prefer that over my home WiFi network. But the only way to prevent it is to "forget" the public WiFi hotspot when I am finished with it.
Thank you for the information Lawrence. Let me ask you this. Is this a setting when using iCloud that can be turned on or off? I guess I've not used my two devices together enough to see this behavior. I know that Xfinity has Wi-Fi around, and I've tried it on my iPhone. I'll have to turn off my home network to test and see what it will do for my iPad if I turn it off on the iPhone. I don't use a lot of iCloud features, so I was just wondering if that makes a difference.
I just connected both my iPhone and my iPad to my home network. I went into Settings on the iPhone and Forgot my home Wi-Fi. I then waited a while and turned off the iPad, while still connected to the home Wi-Fi. After powering the iPad back on, the home Wi-Fi is still there and automatically connected. Does this happen to be because I do not use iCloud for backup/sync? Would the devices need to be synced before these changes would occur? I cannot seem to find information about this, but I may just be using bad search keywords. And, a Happy New Year to you and your family as well.

It has to be something with iOS 9 because it was never an issue before I did the update on my iPad. They are both personal devices but I only have permission for my iPad.(iPad mini and iPhone 6 plus). I have tried turning off my keychain and changing the cloud settings but cannot seem to solve the issue.
Hi. recently my iPhone 11 got internet connection problem. the internet always got Egde and sometime shown 4G but no internet connection. My telco in maxis. Whenever i contacted customer service Maxis, they said they received so many reports regarding on the same problem which is from iPhone 11 users. So, this issue obviously is related to software compatibility, not the telco. Some said iPhone 11 does not support 5G.
Extremely disappointed with apple at this point! Have tried everything - calling apple care, my telco company, resetting network settings, switching telos... nothing worked!! Apparently many iphone 11 users have this problem now! I got so upset that I actually bought a new S****ng phone. Problem was immediately solved. Apple, shame on you! You lost a customer.
Hello everyone, i had the same problem. After read all the replies, try most of the things you guys share, nothing change. Let me save your time. I can conclude that the cause is not from the battery, carrier or software. I find out that this is common issue for iphone11. What I can recall, i start to experience this issue after my phone got the temperature warning & the rest is history...
I came across this issue with my iPhone 11 on (3rd July 2023) morning, did everything I could to remedy the issue but to no avail (soft resetting my phone, toggling airplane mode, ejecting my sim). I called up Maxis who's customer service told me that many iPhone 11 users currently using Maxis has this issue, and that it was rare of me to be experiencing network errors this late. He began walking me through a "temporary fix" until Maxis releases their 5G SIM cards in the next 2 months, or so he claims. The temporary fix didn't work, therefore he directed me to Malaysia's apple support number. I tried staying on the line but it took too long, probably from all the iPhone 11 users.. I ended up not speaking to any representatives, am currently STILL waiting on a software update.
Visited Aeon Cheras Selatan Machines to tell the technician my issue, he tell me to contact apple support, and i had a conversation with Apple senior advisor after a chatting advisor, he suggested me to do some more tests, these are what I tested
I did receive the advisor call back on the day after and told him my experiment result, he asked my to send a report via my phone and spotted out my battery status appear "service", he suggested I send my phone to service battery first, so I sent my phone after 2 days from that..
I have Orbi model RB750. While the devices seem to be working at full strength, I cannot connect my iphone so that the app will complete and load. I have tried to manually choose the Orbi network with Iphone settings and have no issues, however the app doesn't seem to recognize this connection.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch with a wired PC and web browser. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.

I would power OFF the ISP modem for 1 minute. Factory reset the Orbi router and power it off. Power ON the ISP modem and let it sync. Then power ON the Orbi router and walk thru the setup wizard again using a wired PC and a web browser.
Press the back reset button for 15 seconds then release.

My daughter's iPhone has stopped connecting to our Deco wifi. We have wiped the network setting on the phone which didn't work, we even completely reset to iPhone. The phones find the network but just sit there with a spinning wheel. Her phone connects to other wifi networks and hotspots. It looks as if the deco is blocking the phone - I've checked on the Deco app and can't find any reason why she would be blocked.
@MalaIRL My IPHONE X was doing the same thing, all kinds of troubleshooting and the second I disabled fast roaming on the Deco app my phone could connect. Guess I cannot use that function but thank you for this post.
I made an open network with no security on 2.4 to see if I could get my iPhone 6 and 7 to connect they would not. Every other device works, If I tether from my oneplus android phone the iPhone can connect no problem.
@Zazzn1, I haven't had the issue in a long time. How I resolved the issue was to shut down everything, including the broadband router. Leave everything off for at least a minute (not sure if that makes any difference), then start with your router allow if to come back online and then start switching on the Deco's one by one.
Actually, it seems that the problem was my actual router this time.. All the access points in my house were reset, even set them to open wifi. My router wasn't giving out IP addresses for some reason. Couldn't even connect to the router via web browser... Reset the router and the world is wonderful again.
