Summarize your bug My PS5 controller has mixed buttons when I use it. For example, when I press circle, the game thinks I pressed the left on the d-pad.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Probably how it messed up was trying DS4. Start DS4 > disable steam input > start the game. (that's how I get PS button prompts to show instead of Xbox prompts) It messed up my controller. Then I've tried to use default steam input again, and exit DS4. The computer detects my controller but not BF2042. Tried other games with that controller, and it worked like it supposed to. To make it detect my controller again in BF, start DS4 again disable steam input again, but now with messed up controller keybinds. (I've tried changing the keybinds too, but not possible)
What happens when the bug occurs? I've figured out which one is which when I press something: L2 is circle, R2 is X, L1 = square, R1 = triangle, the d-pad isn't used, the buttons are d-pads but X is up and triangle is down.
What should be happening instead? Should function as a normal controller like other games.
I've tried it all to fix this. Delete PROFSAVEs from documents, disable overlays, enable/disable steam input, ds4, re-install, etc. I think it's just BF2042 and BF4 cause I've only experienced it with these 2 games. BF1, BF5 and other games like Brawlhalla works fine.
It was fine in the beta and first the first day of launch, but I changed one setting and it messed everything up.
I was trying to record the problem where I play the game, that it keeps me looking down and can't look up with mouse or with the R joystick. Only when you press L2, the more I pressed, the higher it looks up. Also crouching/proning at the same time. But when I started the game, it said "directx function getdeviceremovedreason...". I just wait about 2 minutes to start it again, and it can succeed, sometimes.
The PS controller issue is nuts, tried my ps5 controller because of a deadzone bug. On a side note, when i use my xbox controller on pc for flight it always reverts to default scheme despite showing the modified button prompts.
I have the exactly same problem. I have Battlefield buy IT in epic. The buttons are mixed. I move up And down with X And triangle. R2 is jumping for example. Square And circle goes right And left .... I tried everything. I noticed that when i connect my controller the sound from the menu stop going by the headphones. All the order games in steam OR epic run totally fine with the controller.
thank you man it actually worked for me. I added EA Desktop App exe to steam and used the force steam input settings and now I'm able to use my PS4-Controller! But one thing to mention for people still having problems: You need to close Origin or EA App before launching it with steam in big picture mode! If EA App or Origin is already running in background before you launch it with steam it doesnt work! Also its recommended to change the controller settings in steam to not shut down the controller after 15 mins of non-usage! otherwise if it shuts down while you are still in game you cant simply turn it back on it wont be recognized by BF anymore. This is still a huge failure and evidence of incapacity of EA and its devs that you need to use another launcher to be able to use a controller. This is why I like to Support Steam its the best choice for consumers / gamers.
@CartmansRockets I have now got my sony DS4 controller working again I run origin through steam. Check your controller settings for origin / 2042 in Steam's big picture mode. I have the steam and origin overlays enabled... see this post
Games such as Call of Duty, Halo: Infinite and Fortnite have all managed to do this. You can group us with pc players to keep things fair. I know its not for everyone, but some of us would really appreciate this.
No. If you want mnk use a PC. I have a pc for games i want to use mnk on. But i do NOT want anymore mnk users in lobbies ment for controller more than already exists with ximm cheaters. Controller & mnk do not mix in fps games. I hate dealing with it in games like battlefield 2042. The ONLY way this should be allowed is if they introduced input based matchmaking in any game mnk is supported

But its not solved. Player population is a consideration. Currently Pc controller users are in Pc lobbies as well. Then talking a portion of console population over as well would not be good. They would then need to enable pc players on controller to be in console lobbies which i doubt yhey would do. Then on top of that if all games did fully mix and seperate based on input method, many console players still dont want xplay with pc due to larger availability of cheats and mods in games.

There will never be a console with the ability to use cheats on as easily as a pc thats just a fact. From racing games to shooters. Wall hacks and extreme aim bots are a simple dl away. Console main issues are the ximm and cronus users which is still a major issue but not as strong as some pc cheats. I play on both rigs & seen the diff many times. I pick & choose where i play a game based on what input i want, Cheaters ect. I really dont like the idea of forced mixed eco systems.
There are AI based aimbot that can work on any platform. Basically using a separate PC with capture card to analyze the game footage at real time, and it will send a mouse or controller input signal to the PC/console that running the game via usb. It dosent have wallhack, just aimbot.

While this isn't necessarily something that will bother everyone, many gamers prefer to use a mouse and keyboard in first-person shooters such as Battlefield 2042 as it allows for more accurate aiming.
Given that Battlefield 2042 supports crossplay between PC and consoles, we're hoping that there's an ability to toggle whether console players play with those using mouse and keyboard on PC, as those players will arguably have a greater advantage over those using a controller. This toggle option will also be important if EA Dice decides to implement mouse and keyboard support on consoles, as it will allow it to keep the playing field level for those using controllers.
So, while there won't be mouse and keyboard support when Battlefield 2042 releases on November 19, 2021, it seems that EA Dice hasn't ruled out the possibility of introducing the feature in the future.

Want to know how to fly jets in Battlefield 2042? Getting a jet feels like winning the lottery in Battlefield. The entire team fights over them, but only one lucky winner can become an ace pilot and take to the skies. When you get the golden ticket, you watch the spawn cinematic as your pilot gears up to claim victory, and then you take control. You've dreamt of this moment, so it's time to make the most of it. You push the throttle forward, aim towards an objective and, after a few awkward turns and a risky scrape against the nearby skyscraper, you plummet towards the ground in a fiery wreck. Sigh. Maybe next time, Goose.
Jets are notoriously difficult to master in Battlefield, but we're here to help. This guide covers how to fly jets in Battlefield 2042, with our preferred keybinds and some useful tips that should transform your piloting experience into something that closely resembles a scene out of Top Gun.
If you're on Xbox or Playstation and use a controller, the default settings should be perfectly fine, so feel free to skip down to our advice on how to get better with jets. However, the PC controls aren't as intuitive. You can see our suggested keybinds in the list below and then read our explanation to understand the changes we made.
By default, pitch and roll are both controlled by dragging the mouse. Since you can only drag the mouse so far until your arm gets uncomfortable (or it just drops off your desk), you'll end up constantly slamming the mouse down into your table to readjust its position. We recommend controlling the Yaw and Pitch with a combination of the arrow keys for big movements and the mouse for precision. Then, have your other hand on WASD as you normally would, which will control Throttle and Roll. When Battlefield 2042 first launched, we encountered a glitch that didn't allow you to control Yaw with the mouse. However, this has since been fixed.
