Hi All,

Here are the joint RS and DM meeting notes from our last meeting on August 14^th 2013

1. Adapting Gene Sharp's work to use in U.S. Plutocracy into Democracy campaigns

a. Spencer and Bruce discussed a project approach using Wikimedia and crowdsourcing and proposed to develop a framework and strategies/tactics for Turning Plutocracy into Democracy, using the principles from Gene Sharp's book Dictatorship to Democracy, which the group is reading.

b. There were some limitations in using Sharp's book noted by group members, as there are differences between a dictatorship and a plutocracy.

Georgia suggested supplementing the examination of Sharp's wisdom with the problem/strategy definition tools from the RESULTS conference presentation, which she sent out. ACTION: Review ppt and suggest which tools to use.

Georgia has a workshop for us.

2. Common Cause collaboration

a. We will be shooing United States of ALEC at the SJ Peace & Justice Center at 2-4:30pm on Sun Oct 13. 40 S. 7th Street in San Jose

ACTION: Pablo to check out availability, cost, and capacity of Cambrian library for future use.

Our next meeting will be 7:30 pm on Wed Sept 4 at the Cafe Campbell.
