Hi All,
Rootstrikers has joined with United Republic on a campaign to pass the American Anti-Corruption Act.  The American Anti-Corruption Act gets money out of politics, so the people can get back in.

You can find out more and engage in various ways at: http://represent.us/cosponsor/4618

Best,
Bruce

What we have now is the Conquest Game:  a zero sum, winner-take-all game where those who control money and assets get to define public policy and direct future wealth toward themselves.  We need a new societal game, the Cooperation Game, where success is measured by the increasing quality of life for all people.

Hi, Bruce, et al.:

I concur:  I signed something supporting the American Anti-Corruption Act months ago.  I'd be pleased to talk with others about what we can do to promote this further.

Thinking about this suggested another way to defeat Citizen's United:

            1.  Any governmental entity could assess a Journalism Tax or surcharge on all contract and use that to fund local investigative journalism managed by citizen involvement as described in the Wikipedia article on "Electoral reform in the United States".

            2.  Any contractee could get a reduction in the journalism tax by supplying full documentation of all political spending by that organization, its senior executives and subcontractees with signed statements claiming under penalty of perjury that they have reported all political activity meeting certain requirements.

If we can get this, I think we will get something far more powerful than repealing Citizens United:  We could actually get honest news about politics all the time in a volume that could reduce the effectiveness of current political ads and public relations campaigns to a point that they become almost irrelevant and worthless to the big money.

      Comments?

      Best Wishes,
      Spencer
