Hello, All:
I feel a need to repeat something I said in our meeting: My
primary interest is in the two "gateway" problems of funding elections
and investigative journalism. I believe if we can get substantive
funding for (and dissemination of) investigative journalism, it will be
much easier to solve almost any other major problem facing the world today.
Until we fix the problem of funding good media (free from the
biases imposed by advertising), any advance in any one problem will be
more than offset by losses in other areas. Without that, the mainstream
media will continue to label as crazy anyone who tries to disseminate
honest information, because the profitability of the commercial media
depends on money from those who benefit from current corruption.
A manager in crisis once said to me that when your house is
burning down, you need to put out the fire. I agree. However, the
smart fire fighter first looks for the source of the fire. If it's an
electrical fire, pouring water on it could be terminal. If it's a gas
fire, you should first turn off the gas!

Thanks for listening.
