Campers,

After going through my notes from DrupalCamp and BarCamp, I've put up
this page to iron out the nitty gritty

http://rootscamp.org/RootsCampNYCPlanning%20Page

It's not public yet, but I'm looking for your advice before taking it
to the streets. If you're attending NYC and can help out, please feel
free to jump in and add your name. The largest hurdle to jump will be
getting a car on Saturday morning to pick coffee, bagels, snacks and
food...

Cheers!
Noel

hey that's great. looking at supplies, don't you need some butcher paper and tripods, or some way to make lists and brainstorm? Also, do you need vols to help with tech and A/V? Unlike with BarCamp, not everybody will be super self-sufficient setting up their wireless, etc, I would imagine.

mmm, peanut butter...

So our venue has white and chalk boards; thanks for reminding me that we need those writing utensils. As for tech needs, i hate to say if you don't know how to use a projector you really shouldn't be presenting on one... ;)

happy friday!

Out of necessity, everything in Bloomington is going to be as minimalist as possible. Next week, I'm scouting out the three sites for what they have to offer (the School of Informatics, for example, has a little kitchen and a water cooler, not to mention plenty of spaces with white boards; all of the sites have vending machines). This is a good list of things to keep in mind, though, and I'll probably use a smaller version of this for the Bloomington site.

Sorry I haven't been in much contact recently. The Monday time slot is not good for me to have calls, and I had a funeral to attend last weekend (with extra work before and after to carve out the time to go). On the Bloomington front, I got a couple other students to help get the word out, and a local radio station will be doing an on-air/taped interview to air after the election AND will be doing a 90-minute show about the event after it is over. Very cool. I can't get any nibbles from local paper press, but I'm going to make a bigger nuisance of myself next week. I'm also planning to get some fliers for people to distribute at election day gatherings.
