Hi, all.
Emerging Progressives has re-launched Talk Tuesdays, starting this week. If you're in the DC area please come by for a lively discussion about how we can apply lessons from '06 and '07 to the upcoming cycle. Also, please share this announcement widely.
Best,
Roz

Join us at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24th at AFSCME, 1625 L Street, NW for the continuing Talk Tuesday series!

In January 2005, nearly 300 young activists came together at the Emerging Progressive Forum to share their common experiences from the 2004 election cycle and discuss what it means to be a young progressive.  Building from the groundwork laid at the forum, a discussion group called Talk Tuesdays was formed in DC to engage young progressives in a dialogue about the issues and strategies that are building a progressive majority.

Over the next 2 years, the group met regularly on the first Tuesday of the month and included discussion and action items to keep young progressives fighting the battles that matter.
But, due to scheduling challenges, the Talk Tuesday group had to stop meeting during 2006.  Then, in December 2006, hundreds of activists came together at rootscamp events supported by both NOI and Emerging Progressives.  Rootscamps took place around the country to share the common experiences of activists from the 2006 election cycle and discuss what it means to be a progressive.

Now, as a result of the work and discussions at rootscamp DC, the Talk Tuesday group is being resumed.

Our kickoff event is Tuesday, July 24th at 6pm, and we will present a small panel of speakers to talk about "Prospects for the 2008 elections - Lessons from 2006 and 2007 and What's New."

Guests include:
* Gail Stoltz - President, Stoltz Consulting
* Mike Podhorzer - Deputy Political Director, AFLCIO
* Matt Stoller - President, Blogpac

These three political operatives and activists will lead a discussion about political tactics in 2006, what is being tried in 2007, and how this affects progressive prospects in the 2008 elections.

Remember, this is NOT a lecture series, but rather, a discussion group. So come prepared to participate!

To RSVP, go to talktuesdays.pbwiki.com. Feel free to forward this invitation to anyone else who might be interested in participating.

If you have any questions, please email us at TalkTu...@gmail.com .

See you on Tuesday, July 24th at 6:00 p.m.!
