Hai I have realtek audio device and combojack on my laptop. No matter what I do it is not detecting microphones plugged into through the combojack. It keeps using the internal mic of the laptop. I even tried using a trrs connector and then plugging in a lavaliar mic along with a mic-less headphone. In Pavucontrol it does not show the mic as an input device. Please help. I am having to switch to windows everytime i need to record audio.
Working in a stereo project, I am unable to isolate channel 1 from channel 2, whether in speakers or listening via headphones. In other words, if I mute channel 1, I still hear audio coming from the left channel of the laptop. If I delete the content of track 1, I still hear audio in the left channel of the laptop. The strength of the signal/quality is diminished, but the audio is definitely still there in the speaker/headphone, even when there's nothing on track 1.
It sounds like (haha pardon the pun) the issue might be that the stereo output from Avid is somehow being mixed down to mono when it arrives at your speakers OR, you have the wrong panning on your dual mono audio tracks.
Windows lets you convert stereo sound into a single channel so you can hear everything, even if you're using just one headphone. Select the Start button, then select Settings > Accessibility > Audio, and then switch on the Mono audio toggle.

I've been to my sound control panel in an attempt to re-select my speakers, but lo they are nowhere to be seen. The realtek drivers in device manager also seem to have disappeared, replaced with AMD's, and leaving no sign of my speakers anywhere to be found. I have tried installing new devices in device manager, but they don't show. I've looked through my playback devices in sound settings (yes, even those hidden by 'disconnected' or 'disabled') and they still don't show. I've even been to my bios and checked for the onboard sound system, to check it's enabled. It is. Yet I still cannot connect to the speakers that until this update worked perfectly every single time.
