"The Mac Miller Memoir," a Twitter account memorializing Miller, pointed out Sunday night that when you search for "blue slide park" or "blue slide playground" in the Google Maps app or on the Google Maps website, the name now appears as "Mac Miller's Blue Slide Playground."
The playground, with its now-iconic blue slide, has been renamed on both Google and Apple maps as "Mac Miller's Blue Slide Park" in honor of the rapper's local legacy. Miller tragically overdosed at age 26 in September 2018.
Blue Slide Park is perhaps the most famous spot associated with Mac Miller. The park, located in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood, served as the namesake for Mac's debut studio album, "Blue Slide Park." The album, released in 2011, was a milestone in his career and a tribute to the park where he spent many moments growing up. The iconic blue slide, which inspired the album's name, continues to attract fans who want to slide down it and connect with Mac's legacy.
A vigil was held on Sept. 11 for Miller at the playground, whose namesake slide received a fresh coat of its signature blue paint that day. Fans placed candles and artwork for the late rapper near the landmark as a tribute.
