Dear Hiren Dhirajlal

Company: Thames Valley University
Nature of business: Careers & Employment Service
Job type: Careers & Employment Service Assistant
Job type: Temporary P/T
Job location: Library, St. Mary's Road, Ealing
Start date: November 2009 (mailshot), January 2010 (telephone survey).
Immediate customer service work also available.
End date: March 2010 in the first instance with a possible extension to
June
Hours per week: Flexible - usually 6 +
Salary: £7.50 per hour

Are you good at talking to people both on the phone and face-to-face?
Want to help us interview recent TVU graduates as part of the
governmental Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE)
survey?

Work begins in November 2009 and will involve paid training, assembling
and posting out mailshots. The bulk of the work will be in the form of a
telephone survey of recent graduates which will begin in January 2009.

You will need to be flexible as this role requires some daytime, evening
and weekend work. Hours can be negotiated with successful candidates but
you should be able to commit to at least 2 evenings per week, Monday -
Thursday, between 5pm and 8pm, and the occasional Saturday or Sunday
daytime near to the end of the survey.

You will need excellent spoken and written English, first class
communication skills and be confident about speaking to people over the
phone (as well as face-to-face). You should be an excellent listener and
be able to pay close attention to detail. You must be organised and able
to follow procedures. You should be reliable and punctual and able to
work as part of a team. Good administration skills are required to
collate the information successfully. Previous customer service
experience is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided.

In addition to the above, we want one person ASAP to assist on our
Careers & Employment Service Helpdesk between the hours of 12pm and 5pm
on Thursdays. This involves being the first point of contact for service
users, handling queries and directing students and graduates to the
appropriate resources, referring them to the appropriate member of the
Careers & Employment Service Team or to other TVU Departments more
relevant to their needs. The role will also involve administrative
support, updating careers information and helping to promote Careers
Events.

How to apply:
Please email your CV and covering letter to Alex Loveless, Employment
Service Co-ordinator, with Careers & Employment Service Assistant in the
subject box

employmen...@tvu.ac.uk

Closing date: Friday 16th October 2009. Successful candidates will then
be called to interview.

If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role then
please call into the Careers & Employment Service, B Block, Ground
Floor, Library, St. Mary's Road, Ealing between 10am and 4pm, Monday -
Thursday.
