Coming this week…….. December 19-21, 2011

This is a short week!! We have full days on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday the kids get out at 1:15. Then Winter Break!! The kids have worked very hard so far this year. So this week will be a light week as a gift to them and myself as we have earned it!

We will not have a homework packet this week!!

We will be working on some holiday projects and reading some versions of “Cinderella” from around the world. We will also be comparing and contrasting te different versions using a Venn Diagram.

We have finished reading the My Father’s Dragon series and we will be listening to it on CD.

We will be learning about Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and Christmas.

We will be reading some short stories.

We will be finishing up our unit on minerals, rocks and fossils.

We will also be finishing up a few activities I have not had time to complete so far this year.

It should be a great week!

Dates to Remember:
Wednesday December 21 Holiday Party! 12:00-1:15 All are invited!!
Winter Break December 22-January 4 No School

Herbert High Fives
Rupin Kumar For having a positive attitude.
Michael Fleming Always completing all of his work.

Holiday “Party”
For our holiday gift exchange we will have each of the kids bring a small “trinket” for each of the kids in the class. We will have the kids decorate a bag and have each child walk around and drop their trinket into each bag. The trinkets should be wrapped; it makes it so much more fun to open! You do not have to participate. However, if you do, please bring enough for everyone in the class. We have 27 kids. Trinkets can be whatever you want to do: a sticker, a small toy, a pencil, erasers, a piece of candy (remember allergies), anything you and your child would like to give. We will also have some goodies and possibly a holiday book or movie. This will be on the last day of school before break: December 21.
