WhenI start a new game and it enters Create a sim, the prompt to customize a story for the sim shows up. When I click to not do the story it goes into normal cas but the story mode icons and the option to name the sim is gone.
@tqu7t8fwl3ps At this point - "Moving the mods and deleting the thumbnail cache, then turning on the game again" - were you able to get out of story mode? Also, just make sure, it's the file called localthumbcache.package that you're deleting?
If you were indeed able to get out of story mode with an empty mods folder after deleting localthumbcache, you have two possible start points: the Broken/Updated Mods list or a 50-50 (which can be faster than removing mods a few at a time). The 50-50 instructions linked there include making sure you have dependency mods, not just the mods from a creator. I do generally recommend starting with Broken/Updated for a patch with as huge an impact as 1.105 had. It might be enough to solve your problem or leave you with much less to 50-50 test. Check for new installation instructions when you download new versions.
It was a mod that added two more trait slots into the game. I've had It for a while and it was just outdated. As a result I guess it messed up the CAS system, so when the story mode would only create 3 traits it would glitch when I tried to get it into the normal CAS if that makes any sense. At least that's what I guess happened. I believe there's a new version of the mod out, so I just need to update it.
Michael, did you figure this out? I have a similar problem with and HD1 PRO connected to a SIM Injector using its POE and Remote SIM, and then a jumper from the SIM Injector LAN to a WAN on a Balance Two. I set up synergy mode using the Balance Two as the Synergy controller and the HD1 PRO as a synergized device. Seems like things work ok as I can see the HD1 PRO as a synergized device from the Balance Two dashboard. However there are some ongoing intermittent events effecting the HD1 PRO and SIM Injector causing them to show offline on IC2 then back online throughout the day. I was informed that SIM Injector needs to be at 1.1.115 firmware to be used with synergy mode.
The SDX will need to see the sim injector on the LAN side of its network and then it will be able to pass the sim to the synergized device (dome). In previous configurations, before synergy mode lots of people put the sim injector on the WAN side of the primary router (so that the dome could see it and the POE ports could be utilized to power the dome) but now with synergy mode the sim injector moves to the LAN side of the primary synergy controller so that it can see it on the LAN and pass sims.
configure without synergy mode and put the sim injector on the LAN of the primary router and then enable RemoteSIM proxy (under advanced settings menu) so that devices on both lan (SDX) and WAN (Dome) can see the remote sim (not much point in this config anymore with synergy mode).
enable synergy mode and put the sim injector on the lan side of the primary router, it will then see the sim injector and allow you to pass sims up to the primary router and the synergized device while also allowing synergy functionality for single pane of glass management. Downside is you loose POE from the injector to power the dome.
Dont use synergy mode, put the sim injector on the WAN side of your primary router in between the dome and your wan port on the primary router. This will give you the benefit of using the POE port on the sim injector (if you have the older one) but you will not be able to use the synergy mode functions.
Thanks for the reply. My application uses a Balance Two instead of an SDX as the primary synergy router but I assume the recommendations still apply. In your option 2, if the SIM Inector goes to a LAN port, does the dome go to a WAN port? Does 8.4 address the issue with using the SIM Injector and a downstream dome in a WAN port?
That should do it. This configuration also works with the BR2 and MBX and Balance 20x which have embedded cellular modems so that both the primary router and synergy device can connect to the sim injector which is the primary reason we use this config (along with synergy mode access).
Note you can use the the sim injector on the WAN side but then you cannot use synergy mode. In that case you would set the dome up to a separate subnet, say 192.168.40.x (instead of 50.x used by the primary router - just make sure the networks are not the same). Then set the sim injector to DHCP and plug it on on the wan side. It will pickup an address from the dome DHCP, say 192.168.40.11 using the above example and then the dome will see it and be able to use the sim injector fine.
I had it setup the above way for years pre synergy mode and it worked fine and was a decent config but i just couldnt see signal strength etc of the dome from the primary router dashboard. There are links to access the dashboard regardless though so its not terrible hard to just let them run separate if you want to use the POE.
Did you update your sim injector to the latest firmware outlined in the 8.4 release notes? I posted a link above. Interesting for sure, would need to know more about where everything was located in the topology.
I believe if you plug a PC into the LAN port of the injector located on the WAN side of your primary device. it should get an IP address from the dome since DHCP is enabled inside of synergy mode. Then you can access the sim injector via the same network. You can login to your dome via incontrol and look under the client list to find out where the SIM injector is located. Another method if that doesnt work is just to remove the sim injector and place it inside the lan of the Balance Two, then find it in the client list and access it that way and upgrade the firmware then put it back on the wan side after the upgrade. Second option probably less hassle and easier then trying to find the sim injector burried in the WAN side inside of synergy mode.
So feature request - a small volume of high-quality SIM mode workouts please! I appreciate this would be a big effort, but with the Systm development over the last year or more this must have been considered and ruled out, or considered and on the list for development? Would be really interested to know the thoughts on this.
Add in to the mix the speculation around zwift and TR, and that combination would be a monster of a competitor to Systm (and everyone else). Either through self generating content, or acquisition, SIM mode rides added to the catalogue would be a great move for us as users.
I understand what you are saying, but not everybody can ride outside all year round. Some people might want to ride places they will never visit. I can also use it to test out various riding strategies on courses that I have ridden.
This could be fun if they would use something similar to FulGaz steady mode. In steady mode a section such as the climb always takes the same time, and the video keeps playing at the same speed. A 10 min climb would take 10 minutes, regardless if you are doing 200 or 300W.
Because I knew that the interior of this build was going to be modern in design, it was important to create a suitably contemporary exterior. I wanted this build to fit in well in amongst the Japanese-inspired homes of Mt. Komorebi but it also needed to feel fashionable and up-to-date.
Using some reference images of Japanese homes, I created a simple geometric build. I used earthy tones and natural materials to match the warm and neutral colours of most of the Snowy Escape furnishings, and reduced the height of the roof pieces in order to emulate traditional Japanese architecture.
The interior of this build is also a mix of old and new. Although I wanted this house to feel ultra-modern, I had fun incorporating some more traditional Japanese decorations into my design. The objects that came with Snowy Escape are actually pretty versatile. Most of the items have both modern and traditional swatches, allowing you to use the same paintings and pieces of furniture in a variety of different builds.
The addition of new kitchen counters to the Game is always cause for excitement. Kitchens can be one of the most difficult rooms to furnish in The Sims 4 so new options are definitely welcome! I particularly like the fact that these specific counters have shelving space underneath the countertop. This is something brand new for The Sims 4 and allows you to more easily add detail and decoration to your builds.
Building in the Yukimatsu neighbourhood of Mt. Komorebi presents its own challenges. This neighbourhood is perpetually snowy. Even if you have Seasons installed, this area of the world is always going to be covered in a layer of snow.
This build is heavily inspired by Japanese gardens. These kinds of spaces are known for their intricate bridges, beautiful lakes and ponds, and vibrant plant life. I wanted to try my best to recreate this in The Sims 4.
This effect was created by adding a one step high platform to the middle of my bridge. Once I was happy with the overall shape, I used columns, fences and exterior trims to decorate the bridge and disguise the platform.
This bridge really started to come together when I added in some corbels (the wooden support pieces underneath the platform). As this corbel from Get Together is arched, adding a few of them to the underside of the bridge gave the impression of a curved structure.
I spent a lot of time landscaping this build. I really wanted the area surrounding my bathhouse to feel extremely lush and almost overgrown. I used a variety of different flowers, shrubs, and trees, and made sure MoveObjects was enabled so I could layer plants on top of each other.
Using the mist and bubble grates that came with Get Together, I was able to make it appear as if the pool was also heated by geothermal energy. I love the effect this creates, especially on a cold, wintery day in Mt. Komorebi.
One of the ways to make the most of a new Expansion Pack is to combine the new objects with items from other Packs. This bathhouse build utilises quite a few items from The Sims 4 Spa Day. Not only do these objects fit the theme of the build, the swatches available for these items also, thankfully, match really well with the Snowy Escape furnishings.
