I've read some posts, and it also happens to Sumung's other series phone. They claim the service center does not cover any warranty and needs to pay for the screen replacement. Some even get their repaired phone back, the green line is back for a month later. Does this can actually can be fixed?
I've been sick of negotiating with Samsung customer service staff as this happened before. It started with a suddenly appearing tiny green dot, at that time still under the warranty period, the staff checked my phone and tell there was some scratch on the back, so the screen issue will not be covered by warranty. Also, the manufacturer-given screen protector only lasts for 8 months, it then starts to have a bubble/peel-off in the middle. After paying to change the screen protector and 1 month later same issue back. I can ignore these issues but currently, the horizontal green line is really annoying and affected my usage. Can someone advise on the solution, please?
@oeng: Further to the above, if the green line is visible in the screen hardware test suggested by @Glenntech, then please reach out to our Support Team by heading to samsung.com > Scroll to the bottom of the page > Contact us, and an advisor will be able to arrange an engineers inspection for you.
I'm also facing the same problem but Samsung is saying as your device is out of warranty you will have to pay replacement charges and they said we have run our test on all devices but problem are persisting only with S20,S20+,S20 Ultra and Note 20 so we are coving those phone's screen replacement but for Flip 3 or any other device you will have to pay charges.
Without any physical damage, due to Samsung's display and or software update problem, who will bother with Samsung flagship phone for anymore? I solved my problem by switching to i-phone. Bye bye samsung.
Hi, oeng. I Don't know is it your name or something else? Anyway, regarding the green line issue I also had same kind of problem with my device and my device is also out of warranty and somehow after 1 and half month of convincing Samsung for replacement of screen they have approved it and today I got my device with new display and I had to pay only service and gst charges only other charges were catered by Samsung.
I started to feel that Samsung is a big bully. Devices not properly tested and seems like the latest update caused this issues. It happened to me and like above said, it is out of warranty. Shouldn't Samsung as a big name be more responsible when doing update?
I finally went to Samsung last week, after not caring about this phone for more than 2 months just to make sure that I am ready to reset all datas. Samsung service center changed some parts (flexible, battery, screen layer, but was informed that the main problem is the flexible (not sure if the name is it in English). It costs me in IDR equal to around US$140 (initially they estimated that it would be around US$300). And it took only a few days for it to be fixed with 3 months guarantee.
When I complained about how this Flip type is such a wreck, they did say that flip or fold type need to be extra care, best to use the soft case and not to have hard pressure on the screen, so not to also put the phone in a tight bag space.
Thanks for hearing out. I can't say its frozen as I cannot even turn it on without charging it (and even by charging it isn't always the solution, sometimes it just black out and I need to charge it again even way more than 100% battery), but yeah I am aware that I need to bring this to service center. I am from Indonesia by the way, and the warranty if I'm not mistaken is 1 year. Never had a phone broken in 1 year though, and I've been using Samsung all this time since decades. Is the flip phone generally this troublesome?
I just started facing the same issue as its going to be 11 months of usage. They asked to bring the device to samsung care for fixing the issue. Will update the status of the issue as soon as i get to hear from samsung on the reason for this shut down as soon as we fold it.
My phone just came back from the assistance and they had to replace the battery and another component for this issue. Lucky I had a second year warranty. Will try to sell it now ad second hand and get a Google Pixel instead as I can't trust that won't happen again.
Despite what Samsung says in response to user complaints, the crease/crack along the fold of our Flips and Fold phones ARE a common problem irrespective of whether occuring within the 1st year of ownership or shortly thereafter.
How many of you flip/fold owners have worn the burdensome frustration and inconvenience of having your phone fixed in the early days of ownership? How many of you have felt you've had no choice but to pay for Samsung for the repair, or, write off the cost of your phone entirely and buy a new more reliable phone to replace it??
For those of you out of pocket for a repair and/or the cost of an unusable phone plus a new one, let's band together and launch a worldwide class action lawsuit against Samsung for this issue and get our money back.
I am in! The Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 is flawed and it seems that many people are having the same problem. I have only had my phone for about 18 months and the screen is going. It is a failed concept that should be rectified. I just bought the S23 Ultra because I would never own a Samsung Galaxy Fold again. I explained my problem exactly to the Samsung Agent. The agent told me to not claim the screen as cracked, and that I should have no problem getting the full $660 credit (I still owe $800). He said that it is normal for the screens to have the black line through it, they are seeing a lot of this. I am disappointed. If they fail to give me my full credit and do not accept the faulty phone as a trade in good working order, I think I will look into commencing a class action suit about this issue. I am sure we will not have any difficulty finding a law firm to take action on our behalf.
Please run the diagnostic tool found in your Samsung Members App and send any error logs and feedback to Samsung via your Samsung Members App and or use a Samsung Service Centre to have the phone assessed.
Hi there I'm having same issue only last 2 days and also my is just shy over a year old. I kept closing flip thinking it was a battery problem . So I charged it and just as I closed it I realised it had shut down. I did webchat with my network provider who told me I had 24 month warranty. So I've to take it back to the store today hopefully they can sort it. But not very good if it has happened to you all and myself 1 year on and phone does thos. Very poor manufacturing fault for such a phone they advertise highly. I won't be purchasing another .
Told me to get in touch with provider (sky mobile) but i've got an old phone somewhere for emergencies. Bit skeptical about sending it tho, there's a few horror stories on this community about the flip 4 including BBC Watchdog getting involved.
Same issue appeared in December for me. Good luck with the warranty. I sent it in. Samsung Germany found a little scratch of 0.5mm x 0.5mm on the side of my hinge, which had occured 6 months prior, and thus Samsung denied all warranty. They offered me to repair the phone for almost $400. Escalated to VOC. Nobody actually looked at it properly, they didn't even open it... they didn't even read the description, and didn't believe me that the scratch occured way before. Rep ref was ****** if anyone wants to look into it. Seriously disappointed. It's real shameful what Samsung Service did here.
Same issue with my flip 4. No damage and still within a year of purchase. I went to the repair shop for Samsung and was told they can't repair it. Called the customer support and the best option Samsung provided to me over is to mail in my phone for them to check it out and it would take them 2 weeks. Asked for a replacement and was told it is not an option. My phone is an unlocked version not tied to any provider and I don't have any replacement phone to wait for 2 weeks. It is completely NOT my fault that the phone suddenly started to behave this way. Consider this our family's last ever purchase of any Samsung product, I'll just buy a new phone from another brand and throw this garbage into the trash after I transfer the data as the solution.
I've had the same problem on my Flip3 as well as my wife's. It started immediately after updating to Android 12/OneUI 4. It's intermittent, some days worse than others. Turning Wifi one and off solves it, but that's obviously a lousy solution. I've tried all the usual fixes - clearing cache partition, resetting network settings, etc. My connection was perfect before the update.
Same issue with my ZFlip3 since today. Something must have downloaded in the background. Suddenly my cover screen clock settings changed and I had to change those settings back. Wifi is not working most of the time now. I've reset network settings but this didn't help.
I have the same issue on flip 3. My note20 ultra works fine but not on flip3 and its annoying me to no end!! Initially i tot its my internet connection or router issue but cant be as our famiky's other wifi gadgets are working fine . Hope there is a solution soon.
Yes, tried all of this but what worked for me was to go my actual router page and toggle the authentication key type..ie WEP/WPA2/Auto etc... Doing this and my wifi has been rock solid for 24hrs. Which key type worked for me may not work for you so mileage may very but this has been the only solution that has worked for me.
But Samsung could push the software experience further with more features that are designed specifically for the Z Flip. Combine that with a less noticeable crease -- and all the other routine upgrades phones typically get, like a new processor -- and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could be the phone to beat.
Samsung typically releases new foldable phones during its Unpacked summer event, and we're expecting that to once again be the case this year. Reports from SamMobile and The Chosun Daily suggest Samsung's new foldables could be announced on July 10.
