Dear Ms./Mr.
My name is Esperanza Barranco, and I am working in the Provincial Authority
of Cáceres, in Spain, in a public institution called INSITUCIÓN CULTURAL EL
BROCENSE.
We are working in a European culture project called "Cultural Diversity:
culture and Romani art in Europe".
Our intention are focused in six big objectives, and three of them are:
1- the creation a European network of culture and romani art: online
information tool for research, study, promotion and dissemination of roma
culture and arts to serve as European forum for cultural operators, and for
general public as well, on roma people cultural and artistic expressions.
The platform will facilitate the cooperation among the institutions that
will form the developed network of European Cultural operators, and favour
the circulation of Roma cultural and artistic works.
It will be a really important tool for roma artists looking for
opportunities to express themselves in Europe, since it will be offer
information on European events, editors, musical producers, etc... it will
foster intercultural dialogue, bringing in more deep contact European
heterogeneous culture with Roma culture and arts.

2- Setting up Roma Arts Promotion Centre in Spain, a stable structure to
serve as a local promotion centre for roma culture, promoting facilities to
disseminated among the rest of the networks around the different European
countries, and being in contact with other organizations, associations,
foundations, NGO´s,… that work for and with roma people.
With this intention we pretend to work together with you, to establish the
study, promotion and dissemination of roma culture, art and history
together, because we work in the same way, for non discrimination and
tolerance.
3- Organization a high-level seminar on Roma culture and Art. Experts and
cultural operators of different countries will be invited to take part to
the seminar, that will on one side bring in contact local population with
roma culture, and on the other side foster research on it, considering it as
an important contribution to the definition of the profile of European
culture.
For this reason I take contact with you, I need you promote, disseminate and
publish my project everywhere you think it is going to be useful for the
roma community, in general, information about roma people, community and
artists, as well as experts in this issue.
We are research, collect, systematize, study information on roma cultural
and artiste works and artists, artistic roma events, museums, etc…
We are organizing the International seminar in this moment (in February
2011, 23-25), and our intention is during this days speak about:
- E.U. Program/Founds in favor of Roma community (we will invite people from
the European Union, European Commission, and from the D.G. EAC, Culture
Unit.
- "Cultural Diversity: culture and romani art in Europe" (our project:
definition, objectives,...)
- the European Commission (E.A.C.E.A)
- the history of Roma people (from India to Europe, and to Extremadura,
Spain)- experts of roma history
- good practices and examples (exhibition, and others)
- exhibitions of photography, films, pictures,... made by roma people.
If it is possible I´d been very glad if you give my project the publicity
necessary to all people, organizations, associations,… that can be
interested in it, and mostly in the roma community.
And if it is possible too, all the information about the aims said above
(information about museums (roma), festivals, artists roma people,…)
