Hi (sorry I don't speak Romanian :( ),

I have a colleague in the office from Romania, he is soon leaving and I would like to give him a farewell gift.

He loves retro-computing. He was playing with computers and programming in Romania when he was young in the 80s and 90s.

For example, I would like to get for him a book that he would like.

In Spain (I am from Spain) there is a series of books that tell the history of early computing in Spain in the 80s and 90s. All IT geeks who at the time played with micro-computers love those books because they explain what was happening at the time, they tell nice stories of the most famous people at the time, the main software tools, companies, etc. e.g. https://www.amazon.es/Ocho-Quilates-historia-software-1983-1986-ebook/dp/B008FZPGTC and the related e-books to that one from the same editors.

Is there anything similar in Romania? A book my colleague would like to remember good old times from the 80s and 90s?

Hi Rodrigo,

I think the books you reffered might be ok as a gift. I guess your collegue speaks Spanish.

I don't know recent books on the subject written in Romanian.

thanks so much for your suggestion. It's a great idea!

About purchasing the spanish books, hmmm, I believe my colleague can understand a bit of Spanish, but maybe not a full book. In fact I never spoke with him a single word in Spanish all the time we were together in the office XD.

Thanks for the mesasage.. There are some books, but none of them worth, because they are mostly teoretical... I am working on a catalog book about romanian computers, but probably will be published only next year. I publish each year an A3 wall calendar with computer pictures, will be available in december. I dont know anythiong else worth buying..
