Festivalul incepe peste doar 10 zile! Criza economica a tergiversat enorm deciziile si a intarziat procedurile. Ajutati-ne sa recuperam timpul pierdut. Trimiteti prietenilor Comunicatul oficial de presa (atasat dedesubt), daca puteti printati personal afisul ("poster", publicat in website), si povestiti tuturor despre a patra editie a festivalului, mentionand ca...

"Admission is free. All films with English subtitles. Downtown, on State Street. For information visit http://uwromania.rso.wisc.edu/ROFILM/"

Va asteptam cu drag,
Dana si Cristel

Official Press Release- Romanian Film Festival in Madison

The 4th edition of the Romanian Film Festival in Madison which will be held March 18-20, 2010, will showcase two feature film debuts by directors highly acclaimed for their short film work, "Hooked" (Adrian Sitaru) and "The Happiest Girl in the World" (Radu Jude), as well as Corneliu Porumboiu’s latest film, "Police, Adjective", a masterful and unexpected detective story.

The festival will open with a French documentary that interviews all the Romanian filmmakers who stirred so much worldwide interest during the past decade. Romanian directors continue to generate films that are appreciated on the international festival circuit and win over audiences and critics alike.

Stere Gulea’s "Fox: Hunter" (1992) is based on a screenplay by Herta Muller, the Romanian-born writer who received the 2009 Nobel prize in literature. This was one of the first Romanian feature films that dealt with the terror inflicted on people during Ceausescu’s regime and its fall in 1989.

Napoleon Helmis’ second feature, "Wedding in Bessarabia" and "The Other Irene", a film by Andrei Grusznicki, will be screened along with a group of four shorts. In addition, Romanian film critic Irina-Margareta Nistor will be available for Q&A during the festival.

The Romanian Film Festival is organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Center for Russia, East Europe and Central Asia (CREECA) of UW-Madison, with the support of the UW student organization "From Romania".

Admission is free. All films will be presented in Romanian with English subtitles. For more information visit http://uwromania.rso.wisc.edu/ROFILM/
