Unfortunately, it is not possible for me to create a uniform representation of the floor because the size of the 2D floor keeps changing depending on the model zoom or the side zoom (where the model is also zoomed). This also applies to all other 2D symbols.

I am afraid 2d symbols are just .png and 3d symbols just .ol files. They don't change the size when you zoom in/out - the 3d geometry doesn't either. You just change the field of view and those objects suspended in the 3d space appear bigger or smaller and so does the space between them. You can only change the size of 3d symbols by scaling them in their properties and 2d symbols by dragging the handles, otherwise treat them as 3d objects suspended in the space.

The index keeps track of all the symbols in the code, so you can navigate to declarations and definitions of variables and functions. If you change global symbols all files have to be recompiled and this potentially affects the index.

No it doesn't. The string gets stored in FLASH only once and referenced multiple times. I just tested it. In memory viewer I see all the constant strings in FLASH and see my file name only once and the address of the string is the same for all function calls in the file. How did you measure your "memory clogging"?
Really would like to start making use of the Fields autocad provides. However when labeling say an Angle of a line in Surveyor Units, I do not want the D to be displayed and show a degree symbol or %%d itself. The spacing between the N ##%%d is unnecessary too. Is there away to either modify the way the field works? Through .Net is an option im comfortable with. Or even create your own custom fields?
Are you using Civil 3D or plain AutoCAD? If you have Civil 3D, there is no need to use Fields, just use the built-in labeling. If you don't use Civil 3D, then this is probably not the best discussion group in which to post your question.
