to Rollins Family of Chatham County, North Carolina
I am indebted to Mr. Bernice Prince and Ms. Mir Youngquist-Thurow for
directing Laney and I to the Richard Rollins family graveyard this
weekend.
Directions from Cokesbury Methodist Church are as follows. From the
church parking lot, turn left onto River Road and proceed
approximately two miles. Turn right on Tyler Dewar Lane. Proceed
approximately one mile and check in at the office at 1359 Tyler Dewar
Lane before proceeding further. From the office, bear left and turn
at the first left. The graveyard is perhaps thirty yards in the
campground on the right.
The graveyard is located on former Douglas family property in the
Agape Camp and Conference Center (owned by the North Carolina Synod of
the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). There appear to be seven
graves marked by fieldstones. A modern marker for Richard Rollins
identifies the spot.
