2. after downloading driver for vista extract it even exe file with winrar and then go to device manager and then HP laserjet 1020 which is shown as unkown device and right click on it and after that update driver

Thank you. But where to get this driver? The one I can download from support.hp.com is not compatible with MacOS 12.2. The error on the screen below says that it's compatible with MacOS 12 or older :(

Hp 1020 Printer Driver For Mac Os X

DOWNLOAD https://oyndr.com/2yXEbS

My mac is not showing me at all that the printer is connected to the system. However, the printer is working perfectly fine with the windows machine with the same old settings. Its just the update that caused the problem. My USB ports are also working fine.

HP doesn't provide 1020 driver for the mac, however Apple does in a package "HP Printer Drivers v3.1 for OS X". There is another package "HP Printer Driver 1.1.1" that contains specifically 1020's driver but it doesn't install on my mac. Anyways v3.1 worked perfectly fine.

I did it just deletes all the information about printer ?. Anyways, I've asked my university to buy a new one that is supported by mac. I hope get that in time. Thanks a lot for helping everyone. I learned a lot of things. ?

I read his detailed post and followed a link back to an Apple page to a host of HP drivers. HP Printer Drivers v3.1 for OS X
its a large download of 500+MB - it worked a charm.
All I had to do then was go to my library folder and under HP, delete all the HP printers and stuff I don't need, which is almost everything.

Suggestion for @wimpy or other QA people: go back and look at the HP printers (the 1020 in this case) that require a proprietary .ppd and exclude them from the auto-install using foo2zjs or other drivers.

As expected I went to HP Support and downloaded the 2.6 driver file, when I launched it it got stuck on preinstalling drive files and then an exception pops up, I'd have posted a screenshot but the whole system is in Arabic, but the exception has the number c000000d and it has something to do with ProductInstall.exe and BEX, googling has returned a suggestion that my security software is blocking the installation, I deactivated protection and tried again, same problem

Having failed in the previous step I downloaded the 18MB UPD 5 universal driver. Launching it, I chose a USB install, waited for the files to be copied and then tried to connect the printer, the thing is that first I got: the device couldn't be installed and I had to disconnect the cable multiple times, but when I opened device manager the printer is showing under other devices with its name and everything

I have just upgraded my system to Leap 15.0 and I am now installing the drivers. Since a long time ago until version Leap 42.3 I always installed the drivers for my HP1020 printer (ok, it is old but still working fine) from without any problem. I am trying to install these same drivers into 15.0 the same way I used with the previous versions, but when I enter the command MAKE to compile I receive the following error message:

First of all, I'm so lucky to get introduced to such a charming OS.
I installed it today. However, I'm completely new to using a Linux distro.
How to connect the printer to Zorin os, how to install the printer driver? I've hp laserjet 1020 plus

Thats it, your laser printer driver is now happilly installed, so that your system can find your amazing HP laser printer, when you add it. And how do you do that you ask? Well, I am so glad you asked Raj.

I wasn't aware that Synaptic didn't have the latest driver. Well, thankfully, my HP laser printer is 20-years old, so it didn't need the latest and greatest version driver to operate it. But I can see how if somebody bought a brand spanken new HP laser printer, they probably will require the latest driver.

You need to download the drivers to control the functions, properties and different modes of your printer from your PC. If you have just bought your printer it is very likely you will need these drivers. Even if you have had your printer for years, to guarantee it works to its full potential you need to keep the drivers updated.

The installation process for HP LaserJet 1020 Drivers is extremely easy. Download the application and follow the instructions on your screen. The drivers will practically install themselves.

I do understand from my previous experience with Debian & Ubuntu, without installing hp-plugin, HP_LaserJet_1020 will not print. In Debian/Ubuntu it was much easier to resolve by installing hplip-gui and run hp-setup, that is all it takes.

This printer REQUIRES a downloadable driver plug-in. Use hp-setup to install the printer, and to download and install the plug-in. In general, required driver plugins are required for printing support. Driver plug-ins are released under a proprietary (non-open) license and are not part of the HPLIP tarball release.

5 Fax supported means that PC initiated fax send is supported using hp-sendfax, once an appropriate CUPS fax queue is set up. Fax support varies on Linux distributions, based on the availability of python-dbus version 0.80 or greater (versions before 0.80 will not work with HPLIP). Click on the model name of each printer to get more detailed information.

8 ("Required") A downloadable driver plug-in is required for printing support. ("Optional") A downloadable driver plug-in is optional for printing support and may increase the speed, quality, or other aspect of printed output. ("No" or "None") A driver plug-in is not required nor available. Driver plug-ins are released under a proprietary (non-open) license and are not part of the HPLIP tarball release. Even though my printer seems to be installed and working, I can not get any prints. My pc show as if a print is going on and is completed, but actually there is nothing printed. I had this problem earlier a few times and it seemed like it got fixed somehow but for a few days there is no solution and I am really fed up.

Unfortunately, I could not get any prints this way too. Here are two screenshots (sorry I am allowed only one) that show the messages I get. I tried to print again after once closing down the printer but it did not work this way too. Maybe I should shot down the whole pc and try again!

I am Turkish and live in İstanbul. I removed the printer, configured it again and changed the default page as A4, and tried to test print with no success. Thank you for your help but probably there is still some other problem. I did get prints before and from time to time not able to do so. What is changing, I cannot understand. Probably some update etc.

Yes, I have a Toshiba laptop too and there was no problem with the windows running on it for the last 4-5 years. Same usb cable and the printer is much older of course.
Unfortunately the Toshiba is now at service so I cannot check momentarily but when I had the same issue previously, I always had to change connection from Asus endless to Toshiba Windows and it worked fine. What ever the problem is, it is with the Asus Endless.

The Hp Office Jet All-in-one Online printer also works fine with the Asus Endless. Perhaps there is a compatibility issue with the Hp Laser Jet 1020 even though it configures it, shows the print is ongoing and completed except that no printing is actually happening.

What I cannot understand is that this printer (Hp Laser Jet 1020) and the Asus endless did work at some point and I did get prints out of it. It was intermittent cooperation between the two and somehow it is not working now. I hope that they will work again soon. I am checking some of the suggestions but I am not confident I may succeed without corrupting something else. So thank you for the effort.

I now use a PC (of the lab where I work now) on which I have successfully installed Arch Linux not long ago. I want to connect to the HP printer there, already connected to the Ethernet of the lab. The printer is a "HP Color LaserJet M552".

When I tried to print some document, no printer was found. I ran sudo hp-setup (as advised here: Configure your printer using hp-setup). A dialog box appeared, which asked me for "PPD" file, and I don't know where it is and what it is for.

Meanwhile, I was prompted to choose a PPD file. The default folder for me to choose is /usr/share/ppd/hp, but when I choose anything, the box is still empty, saying I should choose a file. The printer name is shown, so I think connection is fine.

The library hplip from pacman and the driver plug-in installed via hp-setup -i have to have the same version, otherwise you'll be unable to print and see this error message in your systemd journal (inspect it with journalctl -e):
