Our great grandfather and grandfather worked as sharecroppers for many years. At the end of each grow season majority of the profits from their crops were provided to the land owner. However, an opportunity became available for our grandparents to purchase and farm their own land.

With a big smile and welcome the size of Texas, Shannon greeted us as we drove up the Bee Happy Farms driveway. Lined with native grasses, flowers, with ponds, horses and cows in the pastures, memories of my time on our old family farm emerged.

We watched as the family tended to their fields, horses and other animals on the farm. It was time to venture into the fields for bird watching and bird photography. With a front row seat to one of my favorite birds, the Meadowlark, could this be any better?

Watching and learning about their farm life added extra appreciation for what makes their farm special. Within a short amount of time, we learned a ton about the difference regenerative farmers make not only in our food but the environment and ecosystem.

Their cows are born and raised on the farm. Their beef (which just may be the one of the best burgers, ever) has not been treated with pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, corn or soy products.

Holistically, they care for and manage the farm. Each day, the family walks the fields. Cows move to fresh grasses daily. Horses are exercised and ridden. Cows, horses, chickens and the lands are healthy and very happy!

We believe in an unconditional and unbreakable deep connection between the farmer, the animals, and the land. We believe there should be the same deep connection between the farmer and the consumer, between the consumer and their food. We believe in nourishing this land-animal-farmer-consumer connectedness with ethics & compassion, traditional organics & regenerative agriculture, and transparency & education.

We believe all consumers have a right to know how their food is raised, to be able to ask a farmer questions and receive an honest and thoughtful answer. We believe in transparency and connection from paddock to plate. We see educating and inspiring consumers to make ethical food choices as our duty, another way of honouring the life that becomes our sustenance. We yearn for this to go beyond our own customers, to inspire all consumers to make more ethical and environmentally-conscious decisions. We believe that children should spend time on farms and learn where their food comes from, so they carry that knowledge and compassion through to the future, for a better future.

About Larsen Puzzles:

Since Daniel grew up with animals as a child, he has a love for raising and interacting with animals. Daniel spent several years raising goats, chickens, dogs, cattle, and even some miniature horses. After spending several years raising chicken eggs on a small commercial scale, he now finds it exciting to help other farmers find a chicken coop that is small, portable, and durable.

A colorful illustration of a farmyard scene lights up this 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. The image features all the classic animals one would find on a farm - a cow, a horse, a sheep, a pig, a chicken, and even a friendly dog. All of the animals have happy, smiling faces that add a sense of joy and whimsy to the scene.

The background of the image shows a farmhouse and a traditional red barn, set against a backdrop of rolling hills and mountains, with the sun setting in the sky and casting a warm, golden glow over the entire scene.

The colors in the puzzle are bright and bold, with each animal depicted in vivid shades of brown, white, black, and pink. The grass and trees in the scene are a deep, rich green, and the sky is a stunning blend of oranges, blues, and yellows.

I especially wish to offer what I can to the younger generations who are inheriting the escalating impacts of this triple emergency. I see clearly that when these younger folk join us in the Plum Village community and spend time on the farm and in the natural world, together we can create opportunities to heal and to build resilience in the face of a crisis. Mindfulness training, food production skills, community living experience, and nature connection are direct ways to build individual and collective resiliency.

Farms in Montgomery County that sell meat and animal byproducts, including eggs, must have licenses from both the county and state. Slaughtering of animals requires additional licensing from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Site inspections and animal testing are common protocols prior to a farm obtaining such a license.

During an on-camera interview with ABC7, Feng stated he believes in his innocence. When asked why a number of his chickens were found dead on the farm, Feng explained that foxes and raccoons commonly sneak into the pens at night, attacking the helpless birds. When asked why he did not have proper licenses for operating a commercial slaughter operation, Feng stated the farm was new, seemingly suggesting he had simply not gotten around to it. When asked if he knew deadly diseases were spreading among his flock, Feng declined comment.

We choose to raise our hens with the Happy Egg Free Range Standard of Care, with 10x more space to roam than what you'll find on most Free Range farms. It's on these farms that our hens live their best lives and lay our superior-tasting eggs.

To Pick Your Own Persimmons Requires Snippers
(pointed are best)
Check in at the porch first.

2023 Prices Costs are up for the farm just as they are everywhere. Labor, fertilizer, fuel & supplies- and on top of that supply shortages and labor shortages. Those of you who pick your own will be getting the best deal as the pre-picked see the bigger price increase to cover the labor costs. Also note there is now a 4% surcharge added to credit card charges to cover provider fees.

CAUTION - Please wear shoes with good tread.
Please no sandles or flip flops. The terrain is uneven, and in places, sometimes steep. Please wear shoes with good tread for walking around the farm. See our Picking Tips

Parking Tips
We ask our workers to park at the top of the driveway in order to save parking down near the old farm house for you! That means that seeing cars at the top does not mean you have to walk in. If we are really crowded we will have someone at the top to direct parking. With that said, please note that trailers or RV types of vehicles must park at the top of the driveway in the first parking area. They should not be taken down to the house because there is not enough room to turn them around.

Dog Policy
Please leave your pets at home.
We love dogs but it is best not to bring dogs to the farm. We cannot allow dogs in the fields and the parking area is too hot to leave pets in the car. If you cannot avoid having your dog with you, please plan for a member of your group to stay with the dog; stay out of the fields (no one wants berries that were...ah..sprayed); carry doggie bags for the unmentionable; and keep the dog on a 6 foot (or shorter) leash.

Schools that participate in Farm to School are recognizing the importance of farmers this year with Farm to School yard signs. Students from Harlan County to Trimble County show their support of the local farmers that grow their food.

Rima is a member of our Farm Animal Adoption Network: a nationwide collective of people and sanctuaries that provide forever homes for farm animals in need. Sadly, turkeys need a lot of help: Roughly 223 million are slaughtered for food each year, with 68 million just for the November and December holiday season.

Down at Valparaiso, Indiana, a power farming dealer ahead of his time sold and stocked threshing machines when 95 per cent were sold direct out of branch houses, with implement dealers cutting in only as bird dogs.
