first, I want to thank you for this app. I use it daily and love it.

is there a manner to add a picture import feature?
I know will need a 320x480 png and would like to have ability to add
custom backgrounds.

thank you.

I've had a few people ask me to implement this, but I'm not exactly sure how I would want to grab the graphic.  Getting it from a URL would be OK guess, but not everyone can upload their picture to a web site.  And putting it in a particular folder on the phone might be too complicated for some people.  What do you think?

Glad you like the app!

in reality there is, IMO, no way around using a folder. trying the
transload from url adds another failure point by something as simple
as a network drop.
since the graphic needs to be a certain size anyway, I would expect
people who can set the graphic to that size should be able to usb/ftp/
BT/email the pic over to the folder needed.
or even pull from dropbox to the folder if needed.

I would be more than willing to help test stuff if you have some
thoughts/builds to try.

LOL
using app right now as I type this :)

Yeah, that's probably the best way to go.

I'm in the middle of working on a honeycomb only app right now, and trying to get it finished before I go to the Google IO conference in a week.  If I have some time while I'm out there, I may take a look at doing that.

Good idea though, and I'll definitely take you up on your offer to test!

Just an FYI - I just released a new version with the ability to use custom backgrounds.  Here are the instructions I included in the app description:

To use your own custom image as a background skin, copy any image into the RokuRemote folder in your SD card.  The image name must be one of the following:  Custom1.jpg, Custom2.jpg or Custom3.jpg.  You can then select Custom1, Custom2 or Custom3 for your skin in Device Preferences.  If you select a custom image from the preferences screen that doesn’t exist, the default skin will be used.  The bundled images are 320 by 480 pixels, but any image should work and scale to fit the screen.

Let me know how it works for you!

I just tested it and one small issue, unless they  have actually chosen to use custom the folder is not there.

So if they choose custom, it does not change, the folder is created, then they dump a jpg in called custom1 and its perfect.

Yeah, that's a good point.  Right now, the RokuRemote folder is created if they hit the Channels button, or if they try to select a custom skin.  But if they never pressed the channels button, that folder wouldn't be created.

I'll make it so just opening the app will create that folder.  Thanks for finding that!

Glad I could help a bit J

It’s a great app and I use it often.

Have a widget feature request I will post separate, ability to run multiple widgets (named, perhaps by DB instance? ) on screen for those with multiple rokus.

Will neaten up the idea and post it in a bit.

Thanks Greg.
