Very counter intuitive right? I have been a premium member for 4 - 5 years. I am currently in a free trial of Apple Music. Its close to being a great alternative. Hopefully they give some updates during WWDC conference that make it a bit more appealing. If I wanted to be frustrated by music skipping, I would get my CDs from high school out of my closet.

Does anyone know alternative iOS apps for Spotify that are not bloated with podcasts? I don't like how the podcasts are everywhere in the app so I'm looking for an app that does the one thing that I have my Spotify subscription for, which is music.

SoundCloud is more of an alternative choice, but there's obviously nothing stopping you from using it as a place to discover offbeat offerings while also making use of a more traditional service as you do so. Still, if you are truly tired of the mainstream, perhaps it's time to take a trip to SoundCloud.

Apple Music recently released its high-resolution streaming options at no extra cost. You can now stream 16-bit/44.1kHz, 24-bit/48kHz, and 24-bit/192kHz audio and use Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos content through Apple Music. Apple Music also streams content at 256kbps utilizing the AAC audio format and streams via one high-quality Bluetooth codec: AAC, which is far more efficient than most other open-source lossy alternatives. By default, Apple Music will stream at the highest possible quality and reduce quality when streaming using cellular data. However, this quality throttle can be disabled in the settings.

If you've been using Stitcher to listen to podcasts, it's time to look for a new app. SiriusXM is shutting Stitcher down on August 29, 2023. Thankfully, there are some good alternatives. If you have an iPhone, we recommend Overcast, Pocket Casts, Apple Podcasts, or Spotify. If you're on Android, you should try Pocket Casts, Google Podcasts, or Podcast Addict.

Free music apps are perfect for occasional listeners or those who already subscribe to too many other streaming services. Their sound quality won't be quite as good as the paid versions, they'll have more ads, and some functions may be limited, but there are more than enough perks to make these Spotify alternatives worthwhile.

With its simple, clean layout and access to lots of rare songs and artists, it may be just what users are looking for who want to build more alternative playlists. The free option doesn't allow for downloading offline, so listeners will have to keep it open on their phone (iOS/Android compatible) or computer.

Compared to the first-generation model, this speaker shines for bass reproduction. With more thump and rumble reproduced in the mix, it's well-suited for listening to bass-heavy genres like EDM and hip-hop. Its built-in room correction tool automatically optimizes the audio reproduction based on your room's unique acoustics, which is a nice premium touch. Unfortunately, Apple still hasn't added any sound customization tools for its speakers, so you can't switch up its sound. Still, it's a great pick for iPhone users, and the more affordable Apple HomePod mini is another solid alternative if you're okay with less bass in the mix.

Spotify is Google's first partner for "User Choice Billing," a feature that allows Android users to make purchases using the payment option they prefer. User Choice Billing is essentially an alternative billing option for in-app purchases, and it comes with a reduced fee.

With User Choice Billing, Google has distinguished the Play Store from the App Store, as Apple does not let apps use alternative billing at this time. There are two exceptions, however, including South Korea and the Netherlands. Regulators in these countries have forced Apple to allow some apps to use third-party payment providers.

iOS is always hard to enjoy the freedom to download whatever files you want, but today, the scenario is slightly different. You can download a Spotify++ app on your iOS device. For anyone interested, please follow this YouTube video guide of How to Download Spotify++ on iOS.

Spotify has client software currently available for Windows, macOS, Wear OS, Android, iOS, watchOS, iPadOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S game consoles. There is an official, although unsupported Linux version. Spotify also offers a proprietary protocol known as "Spotify Connect", which lets users listen to music through a wide range of entertainment systems, including speakers, receivers, TVs, cars, and smartwatches. Spotify also has a web player (open.spotify.com).[202] Offline Music listening is possible on watchOS[203] and more recently added to google's WearOS[204] for those with premium subscriptions. Unlike the apps, the web player does not have the ability to download music for offline listening. In June 2017, Spotify became available as an app through Windows Store.[205][206]

In April 2014, Spotify moved away from the peer-to-peer (P2P) system they had used to distribute music to users. Previously, a desktop user would listen to music from one of three sources: a cached file on the computer, one of Spotify's servers, or from other subscribers through the P2P system. P2P, a well-established Internet distribution system, served as an alternative that reduced Spotify's server resources and costs. However, Spotify ended the P2P setup in 2014, with Spotify's Alison Bonny telling TorrentFreak: "We're gradually phasing out the use of our desktop P2P technology which has helped our users enjoy their music both speedily and seamlessly. We're now at a stage where we can power music delivery through our growing number of servers and ensure our users continue to receive a best-in-class service."[268]

Testflight. Google it. Basically you get an account with testflight. Put your app on testflight. You send your customer an email and they click it on their iphone. It sends testflight an email with your customers device ID. Testflight sends you an email saying "a New customer requested your app" and their device ID. You add their device ID to your provisioning chain and rebuild your App. Upload it to testflight, they get a notification that it's ready, and they can install it. Somewhere in there be sure to get your money :)

The Register has contacted Apple for comment, but it told Reuters: "Customers can discover and enjoy alternatives to every one of Apple's services. We're introducing Apple One because it is a great value for customers and a simple way to access the full range of Apple's subscription services. We'll be recommending the Apple One plan that saves you the most money based on the subscriptions you already have. It's perfect for anyone who loves any of our services and wants to get more for less, and it's especially great for families. Also select services included in Apple One are available to enjoy on non-Apple devices, and you can cancel anytime."
