FAQ: Are We Still Active?
Yes. We host a meetup at the Medford Library on the first Thursday of every month 6:30pm. This is co-sponsored by Friends of the Medford Library. If you read your emails from Meetup.com, you'll see we still post events there.
FAQ: Are We Still Planning on Moving to a New Location?
Currently, there is not enough momentum to pursue self-funded options. The strategy at the moment is to slowly rebuild momentum and build strategic relationships.
FAQ: What Are We Looking for in a Physical Space?
- Accessible to RHL volunteers and participants during evenings and weekends. For both working families and teens.
- Some dedicated space for messy projects (concrete floor / shop area). Laser cutter, CNC, some woodworking tools, etc. Ideally sound-dampened from other parts of the space.
- Group meeting area that can comfortably accommodate 30-40 participants simultaneously. Adequate electrical, network, bandwidth, and WIFI connectivity that can support 20-30 computers, laptops, and other devices simultaneously.
- Onsite project storage, so we don't have to haul everything back and forth.
- Centrally located.
Holiday Gathering
A super-casual meetup on Monday, December 14 at 6:30 pm (Jackson Creek Pizza on E. Main). We'll probably reserve the back room. There is no agenda. Just a good opportunity to hang out. Feel free to bring the whole family.
Latest Developments
Working with JCLS and Friends of the Medford Library, we are making progress on providing youth-friendly activities and materials during the monthly Makers and Hackers Night. We are also brainstorming ideas to help convert part of the Teen Library on the 2nd floor into a hack-friendly zone.
Is this Google Group Active?
I think we can declare this forum dead and move it into ARCHIVE status. Our preferred method of communication is now
Slack. Please join us over there if you are interested in related topics and discussions.
