Inweek one, Charles will introduce you to the materials needed for dynamic sketching and provide you with several helpful drawing exercises. You will practice creating lines, circles, ellipses, boxes, and arrows.
In week two, Charles will teach you how to manipulate organic, geometric shapes and create surface details. You will practice drawing geometric shape combo, interconnection, overlap, and cutaway. Then, Charles will show you how to create textures and patterns.
In week three, you will learn to draw marine animals utilizing simple drawing components. Charles will teach you how to sketch the octopus, fish, lobster, etc. You will also discover how to develop a page layout.
In week four, Charles will overview the main components of his drawing process while demonstrating how to draw animal skeletons. You will train to focus on gesture, shape, and structure rather than just copying the photo references.
In week five, Charles will teach you how to create lay-in drawings of insects and tropical animals using a variety of drawing tools. Then, you will learn to sketch with color, specifically in gouache.
In week six, you will learn to draw land animals while breaking down the structure of their anatomy. You will focus on simplifying the 3D subject into a 2D structure and practice squinting your eyes to group values.
In week eight, you will learn to draw trees and plants while paying attention to grouping, perspective, and overlapping. Then, Charles will help you apply what you have learned to create compositional studies of landscape scenes.
In week nine, Charles will walk you through how to construct fabric and help you apply that to drawing costumed figures. You will learn to combine gesture, shape, and structure with support and gravity, two significant components for drawing drapery.
In week ten, you will explore drawing cars. Charles will analyze the proportions and the main components of a car, including the wheels. From there, he will demonstrate sketching classic and modern classic cars using an artist pen and markers.
