This new record puck ensures a secure fit between record and turntable. With the two different finishes, black painted and polished silver, it perfectly fits the design of of our turntables. Record pucks use weight to secure a playing vinyl record against the turntable platter. By holding the two together, the sound performance of the turntable will improve, in timing and depth of sound. With a weight of 190 grams, this puck is perfect for smaller turntables in order not to burden the turntable bearing and to prevent an increase in rumbling.
The Record Puck Pro ensures a firm fit between the record and the turntable.
Record pucks use weight to secure a record against the turntable platter. This improves the sound performance of the turntable in both timing and sonic depth.
Please ensure that the spindle height (including the record) does not exceed 10.5mm.
Extra weight on the spindle helps to hold records in place more effectively than the weight of the records alone, making it easier for the stylus to track the grooves accurately and produce a more detailed, more lively sound.
The Project Turntable Record Puck is for use on Project turntables, its 750g weight ensures a firm fit between the record and the platter surface. Also suitable for most other turntables with similar size spindles.
Having just got back into vinyl as many have and my 39 th birthday looming I took a punt on this, I mean who cares if it makes a difference, it adds to the event, right? Well I was sceptical. Opened the rather nice box, and there was this gorgeously made lump of brass. So I started spinning without it for a few tracks. Listened to the same tracks with the puck....wow!! Everything leaped from my speakers and sat in front of me, bass tightened vocals lifted and I heard a new sound, a definite bargain. Buy it. Sounds like a lot for a lump of brass, but believe me, my player is a new machine..I love vinyl...right, next upgrade???
The Pro-ject Record Puck is a basic and easy to use accessory. It does the same job as a record clamp except it also adds a 750 gram mass to the platter. I had recently replaced my steel platter with an acrylic platter, and this puck has replaced the weight that was lost in the upgrade. The puck is BRASS and will not affect your MC or MM cartridges. It is made with a comfortable groove in the side and is easy to grip, even with arthritis affected hands. The puck is finished with a high quality powder coat satin black paint and is presented in a wooden box (new design) with magnetic lid restraint and no hinges or clasp. A nice accessory for any turntable.
So I recently sold a good friend an Rega RP6. He likes the supplied record puck found on my ProJect RPM10.1 and asked me if I could get him one. Of course, this is not a problem, however Rega swear by NOT RECOMMENDING them due to the lower mass of their decks. Any truth in this? Has anybody tried one and found no compromises? I lent him my puck and it didnt seem to slow the motor down in any way (according to his ears anyway).
On my Pro ject and Rotel TT's and although it may be a complete figment of my imagination, it appears to me, to improve the sound and speed stability. One thing it defiantly does not do is "cause soundstage to shrink and harden sound timbre".
Along with most other people my TT sits on a rack that also contains my amp and cd player .Both have metal components and coils. My speakers have large magnets and are not more that three meters from my TT.
According to you the sound from my system and that of most other is compromised.I also have a house with a steel frame the only way I could comply with what you think is necessary is to put my TT in the middle of the garden.

I use a reflex clamp similar to the Mitchel except mine is DIY. With an acrylic mat a clamp is mandatory. There is an audible difference over the stock Technics rubber mat. The other advantage is the reflex clamp flattens mild warps.
@MrRogers here's one to consider...a 45 adaptor (for use on those 7" singles with crazzeey big holes) but also for providing moderate stability on regular to lighter weight LPs. Weighs 130gm so should be spindle friendly on most tt (users to determine/decide for themselves)
I bought a cheap record weight from eBay to try. I'm not sure how the materials would affect the sound, I would think it would be more about the diameter in contact with the label and the total weight of it.
@Warren Jones @punkterfuge I bought the Pro Ject puck initially for my Debut Carbon, and the Music Hall came with it's screw down clamp, and I found it annoying to screw on/off every time and it's not heavy at all. I believe the Pro Ject puck weighs in at about 750g, so it's pretty hefty and I'm sure it would do the same job flattening a warped record as a clamp would. Sonically couldn't hear a difference, it's more of a convenience thing for me.
