Deep Blue is a blend of seven biodynamic or organically farmed vineyards in the Willamette Valley; Cassin, Roshni, Johan, Momtazi, Nemarniki, Finnigan Hill and Claygate. The vineyards and barrels we selected were chosen for their deeper, blue and black fruit attributes, as well as their lush and silky textures. Think blueberry pie with baking spices, unsweetened cocoa powder, dark cherry, black raspberries, and summer in a conifer forest. We used 30% whole clusters to give the wine a good tannic structure, and the ample acid shows good promise for aging prospects.
A portion of the profits of Deep Blue will be donated to Oregon Kelp Alliance, an organization who promotes the restoration of our oceans and creation of sustainable, carbon capturing food, through providing support to small kelp and shellfish farms along the Southern Oregon coast. It is important to us to continually offer wines that can promote and support causes we believe in.

Although these fragile ecosystems occupy only 0.2 percent of the globe, they are also hotspots for carbon storage, as their soils sequester 10 times more carbon than terrestrial ecosystems. This means that nature-based solutions focused on conserving tidal wetlands are also a cost-effective way to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

However, despite growing demand for blue carbon credits and increasing interest in these types of projects, blue carbon projects are still in need of funding. Capital to support climate mitigation activities is available but is slow in finding its way to the right projects. This report provides an overview of the emerging blue carbon market. Financial Institutions (FIs) can play an instrumental role in this market by:

I was wondering if my PC has surpassed the processing power of Deep Blue which famously won against the human world champion Garry Kasparov. What was the processing speed of Deep blue as compared to todays ordinary desktop processors like core 2 duo , i3 etc. ?

Murray Campbell: Not so well! The current world champion, Vladimir Kramnik from Russia, lost a match to a PC program in November, 4-2. If you look at the supercomputer that Deep Blue ran on, I think a present-day Cell processor has as much processing power as that entire system did in 1997.

Ok, lets take a stab at it. It's pretty hard to tell what the VLSI chess chips were doing, but a reasonable guess is they improved performance of the chess game by doing certain heavy calculations that were slow on the CPU.

I can say for sure that the 120MHz RS/6000's are Dinosaurs by todays standards and an average desktop PC would outperform a bunch of them tied together without even getting hot. If you also count the GPU in a gamer machine e.g. the ATI Radion R800 can achieve 3.04 TFLOPS (I think single precision) and this is not the fastest out there.

This question is nearly 10 years old, but it's still interesting. To put it in perspective, even an old smartphone like the iPhone 7 doing SGEMM (SGEMM is a kind of single precision multiply) scores over 46 Gflops, something like a 10th gen Intel i9 scores over 800 Gflops. These are scores I found looking around on-line, so they might not be comparing apple to apples (excuse the pun), but they are certainly indicative of the progress made over the 20+ years since Deep Blue.

No. Deepblue, an IBM machine that's comparable to the IBM eServer and AS/400 or RS/6000 is just not comparable with a PC. You say you could build a better server that run Linux with an Intel i5/i7/Xeon/Opteron, it will beat an IBM server, but in a lot of specific domains the IBM machine will outperform it. That was the case for this one. Will it run Crysis? No, or emulate it with lag. Will it run a stream of financial calculations in real time, non stop for your enterprise and keep a database of thousand employees maintaining their payroll, and manage the stock and customers too? Not wasting a single of these gigaFLOPS and never crash for years? Yes.

"Plugging in, we get the vintage thing right away. Inspired, we decide to run a Sun Studio-style rockabilly test. The fact that we nail the sound we're looking for so quickly gives you an idea of how user friendly the Deep Blue Delay is. If you play rockabilly or roots-inspired rock in the vein of Creedence Clearwater Revival, you'll love the authentic vintage warmth of this pedal. Avoiding clichs can be tough when using a delay, but the Deep Blue inspires creativity. Setting the pedal for a single repeat adds some cool ambience to high gain rhythm and lead parts that you'll miss with the pedal switched off. Mad Professor will still make you a hand-wired version of all these pedals if you wish. The thing is, based on the quality of the sounds on offer from these lower-cost factory models, we don't think you need to splash out all that extra lolly. We'd be surprised if many people could really hear the difference between the hand-wired and circuit board jobs anyway. Utilising a PCB construction hasn't diluted any of the wow factor that you equate with Mad Professor pedals." -Music Radar, March 2011www.musicradar.com/deep-blue-delay

The delay is specially designed to work well with distorted tone, as this is the most critical application, where delays often fail. You can use the pedal before or after distortion. As such, it will work exceptionally well on clean sounds where requirements are less stringent, especially in terms of echo bandwidth and repeat formation. Its tone has been carefully tuned with a lot of attention to the first critical reflection and how it repeats decay.

Deep Blue Delay is kept small (Width x Length x Height: 69mm x 111mm x 50mm including jacks and knobs) containing just the basic delay features; Delay Time, Delay Level and Repeat controls. It was designed to work as an ambiance delay; like that of a vintage tape echo and the repeat, the formation was specifically designed to allow easy setting and less critical setting of delay time. With delay times higher than 120ms, the delay time is sometimes set on the beat or on a multiple of the beat. Deep blue handles this by not giving full range repeats, but a tuned response that doesn't need to be on the beat to sound good.

Well, in many ways, the delay medium is less critical and it could be an oil-drum, tape, metal-thread, analog BBD or digital, but the final sound is always set by the limitations of the delay medium and the peripheral circuitry needed to make either work. We chose Digital construction to make it compact, stable, with reasonable delay time and virtually service free, where the limitations of the circuit would be less critical. As an outcome, you can set the peripheral circuitry with desired bandwidth and distortion levels with less consideration on the exact limits of the delay medium, while of course always pushing the limits, as with anything musical.
