Dear All

The cricket club are currently exploring the possibility of bringing over an overseas player for next season. We feel that there are many advantages to doing this in all areas of the club. The first team need to strengthen as we feel it is vitally important to regain our Kent Cricket League status and an overseas player will greatly assist. Karl needs as much help coaching as possible and any overseas player brought in would be expected to regularly attend colts training and matches – this will also be a fantastic opportunity for the colts players to learn from an excellent cricketer.  The player would also be expected to help out at club functions and overall, you can see what the benefits are and how this could really galvanise the club.

There are four things that need to be in place to bring such a player over which are;

·         Identifying the right player

·         Paying the air fare of the player

·         Giving the player suitable accommodation

·         Finding work for the player

With our contacts, we are confident that we can identify the right player to bring to the club and our current finances mean that we could pay for the air fare of the player, However, we need to identify accommodation and work for the player and this is where we need all of the members help! Do you have the ability to host a player during the course of the season or know of any friends or family that do? It would be expected that the player would pay some rent if necessary but not perhaps the ordinary ‘commercial’ rate of renting a room. This is only possible however if the player has work lined up so again, do you know of any work that would be available to an overseas player and suitable for them to do bearing in mind it would be for around 4 months and they are unlikely to have their own transport.

We are really keen to explore this further but we cannot proceed unless both work and accommodation has been identified so again, if you are unable to help then please speak to family and friends as we really feel this would be a massive help to the Club both on and off the field in the forthcoming season and beyond.

Please advise Coggs and Darren if you or you know someone who can assist with the above in any way.

Brian
