Dear All

Please see a message below sent on behalf of our chairman, Dave Cogger;

Dear All

                  Let me re emphasise the ethos that the club works under we are a family orientated Club, who operate in a friendly and safe environment in great surroundings, part of this ethos is based on everyone pulling in the right direction and mucking in together. It would appear that the mucking in together part of this philosophy has been lost on members somewhere along the way. Various e:mails have been sent out requesting help preparing the Ground for the coming season which has been extremely difficult due to the bad weather that we’ve been having. Over the weekend help was requested in rolling the square which is a critical exercise that needs to be undertaken for a period of least twelve hours, so as to provide a good playing surface that we’ve always had.

The weather over the weekend couldn’t have been better, so were we inundated with help, not in the slightest. Karl and myself only got help from one non playing member and a new member to the Club this season, and that was it. What adds insult to injury is there was a friendly organised for last Saturday which was cancelled so I would assume 11 players had previously allocated 6 or 7 hours of Saturday to playing cricket but couldn’t spare  1 or 2 hours to help with Ground preparation when the game was called off!!!!!! Totally unacceptable.

There’s talk that players want a game at the Ground on Sunday as preparation for the new season, well let me tell you now that’s not going to happen as it stands. The people that have been working extremely hard on the ground physically haven’t got time to get everything prepared in time, and why should they do it on their own anyway. The only way that potentially it could happen is if people, players in particular  muck in, the Changing rooms are a mess and need cleaning out, the covers need sorting out, to name but a few things, so it’s basically down to players to get this sorted.

I not interested in reasons and excuses for the lack of assistance so far what I’m looking for is a positive response.

There will be opportunities to do this work tonight and Wednesday night as people will be at the Ground , so it’s down to you to make it happen.

Regards

Dave Cogger
