Dear Group:

I would like to elaborate on Dieter's remarks.

We received our first 599 R (revolution) organ today.  While I only had about 30 minutes to play it, I can assure you that any organist will like the tonal changes that can be found in the "REVOLUTION" organs.  These are a few of the things we found today:

1) True Chimes are back !!!!   YEAH
2) The 8' Harmonic Flutes are very different samples in Swell and Great
3) There is a new 4' Flute Sample in the Great.
4) The default voicing is very good -- seems to have more bass / bottom end.
5) All the reeds I listened to were excellent -- this includes the Great Waldhorn, the default Swell Chorus Reeds, the new Choir Clarinet, etc. and the French Horn in the Great is superb "out of the box."
6) There are nice strings available throughout the specification and to my ears the celestes are more like the PDI / Masterpiece organs.
7) This console included the side moldings and it looks amazing with that addition (as well as the Infinity-style Adjustable Bench).

Bravo Rodgers -- with all that you have on your plate at the present time..... you hit the new 599 "out of the ballpark."

The ARTIST ‘R’ models went into production about two weeks ago. ALL Artist models are now shipping with the new ‘Tonal Revolution’ stop specifications by default. Yes, these stop specifications bring back all those American Classic stops to the front (in other words: to the main stop specification that are indicated on the engraved tabs/drawknobs) that many organists love so much from the Trillium and Masterpiece factory stop specifications. In addition, all these alternative French Romantic, English and Baroque stops are still there and accessible as Voice Palette stops, so you won’t lose any of these optional voices if you love to play J.S.Bach’s masterpieces with true baroques stops, Vierne’s Organ Symphonies with French-Romantic stops or Edward Elgar’s organ works using authentic English voices.

However, please note that we did not just ‘reshuffle’ all the well-known Main and Voice Palette stops from the original Artist model stop specifications. The ‘Tonal Revolution’ Upgrade introduces many NEW stop samples in order to provide new, truly amazing and authentic new single stops but also new, thrilling Organ Types by implementing new high-resolution stop samples.

Those who may already own an ‘original’ Artist model and may be interested in the ‘Tonal Revolution’ version, just contact your dealer for options to upgrade your organ to the new ‘R’ version.
I’m sure you won’t regret to upgrade…

More information about the Artist ‘R’ versions will certainly become available through the Rodgers Corporate website soon – and those information will be surely complete and accurate ;)

I suspect the Rodgers website is in a state of flux. As an example, Steve mentions below that the French Horn in the Great (model 599R) is superb. On the website, model 599 has no French Horn on the Great. Model 599T, however, does have a VP French Horn on the Great. The website says, The musical specification of the 599T is the same as Rodgers' popular Artist SeriesTM Model 599. Well, that's not quite accurate, but does show that the Rodgers website is changing.

Upon further investigation, I found out that the "revolution" upgrade is not available for the 588 series (big disappointment). It is only available for Artist organs that end with the number 9. I thought the only differences between the 588 and 589 were as follows ( I may be wrong with some of my observations): upgraded cabinet and roll cover, additional Orchestral Voices in the MIDI section.
If one had a 588 and a 589/599 in a side-by-side demonstration,  and the same default voices were used, would there be any difference in the sampling rate of the voices? Would one hear a significant difference in the sound of the organ? I know that the "revolution" upgrade provides new samples for some voices  as well as other  changes. I have the MX200 installed in the organ, so the additional orchestral voices on the 589 or 599  series would not justify upgrading to that organ.   I am toying (maybe within a year) with the idea of possibly upgrading from the 588 to the 599, but the cost may be too much, considering the state of the Canadian dollar. If there are people on the forum who could answer any of the above questions, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to everyone who has continued to provide additional information about the "revolution" changes to Rodgers organs.
 Thanks
Dan Clarke
