While i use scanimage -L it cannot find anything (i comment v4l from /etc/sane.d/dll.conf because of the webcam was recognized as a scanner)
I inserted vendor and product in /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf but no results.
I have the same problem, but with a Samsung CLX-3175FN. According to the SANE website, both scanners should be supported by the xerox-mfp driver, but there is a bug in this driver when handling usb scanners. On the Fedora website, I found a fixed bug (number 702983) which is supposed to fix our problem.
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
P.S.: I'm having a lot of trouble with the priter also. I can install it and sometimes it works OK. Mostly it just prints simbols on several pages. I think it 's a driver issue. I've tried with samsung-unified-driver from AUR, splix and the PPD file.
I think ifconfig not being found only implicates it can't search for network devices. It should still find the device when connected to usb. And I too have the multipage one-line symbol crap, especially with pdf's. Printing with a different app (e.g. gimp instead of evince) sometimes works.
Ah, I know how frustrating this stuff is, so I'm glad I could help. Also thank you for asking, I totally forgot this fix and anytime soon I would have had trouble myself again and be as helpless as you were. Mfp doesn't stand for multi-functional printer in my dictionary, if you catch my drift.
VCoolio, I have a few questions.
1. What driver do you use? CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.7 or from Samsung?
2. Have you notice any strange behavior in your scx-3200? I have to turn off and then turn on printer and only after that procedure I can print a page.
I don't need to turn on/off. I do recall behavior like this. Don't know if I fixed it or it went away. Try another usb-port on your machine. I have it plugged in in the back. Iirc the front usb ports didn't go well with the printer.
Damn, I'm very disappointed. These days I spend trying the following: change usb ports, install unified drivers from Samsung support page, different drivers for Samsung printer from cups (generic). And I still didn't find a reason why this printer prints empty pages with unrecognized symbols instead of normal pages.
Installed unified driver from samsung website or aur package named samsung-unified-driver , as i have custom kernel i inserted usbcore on modules in rc.conf, @cupsd on daemons, blacklist usblp in /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf and then installed the drivers,then configured cups. Then i put myself on lp and scanner groups; inserted on /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf:
Hello everyone, I have a problem about my Samsung SCX-3200 model printer. Last week, I upraged my windows from 7 to 10. When I was using windows 7, double-printing mode works "automatic". For example, I had a 20 pages. I have selected double-printing and click print. Firstly, 10 pages (front pages) are printed and they were collected at the table of printer. After I put back them into printer and I press the printer button. Printer took all of the front pages into and print their back pages.
After upraged windows 10, I have a problem about it. For example, when I choose double-sided printing and click print. Process box was completed. However, print does not print anything. When I do not choose double sided printing, it works. Printer prints only front pages. When I was using windows 7, I did not have this problem. I guess it is about software.
I have a Samsung ML-2010 and could not get double sided (duplex) printing when I first installed it to Windows 10, as it installed a Universal Driver 3 rather than a specific one. However I cured the problem as follows:
* Control Panel: Devices and Printers. This is an old-fashioned page, not the dumbed-down one Windows 10 may try to show you. If you can't find it , press the Windows key + R shortcut to bring up the Run dialogType control printers and press Enter.
* Right click on your printer and go to Printer properties (not Printing properties).
* Click on Advanced tab, next to Driver select Samsung ML-2010 series and click "New Driver"
* This will take you to an "Add Printer Driver Wizard" which will let you download and install a driver from "Windows Update".
* Restart your computer (I could see and select the double-sided options, but didn't get to use them correctly until I restarted the computer).
After I did all this steps with my Samsung SCX-3200 printer, the manual duplex printing vanished. I cannot see anywhere. If I use Universal Driver 3 I can see the manual duplex printing, but if I select that option, the printer not print anything. I cannot install the driver from the cd, because I don't have any working cd reader. (Only in my Windows XP laptop, but I know it has a lot of virus.)
When I also moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I couldn't make it work properly, so I needed to update the drivers. I faced some problems with the updates and I just uninstalled and deleted everything. It is very easy to find the drivers again because Samsung has everything on their own website, so you just need to type the model and then you can find everything you need for it. Besides that, I bought a nice cardstock printer after I saw a cool review on -sublimation-printer-reviews/ and I also downloaded drivers on their website.
I bought samsung scx3200 multifunction printer i think that printing is easy as Ubuntu define the printer by default but what about scanning i have found a default installed program called simple scan but it didn't recognize the scanner
and i have installed the driver from here but the same
then what to do ???
As explained in ubuntuforums.org a nice guy prepared a repository for easy driver installation.Very important: you must have completely removed all prior installations of the Unified Linux Driver before using the packages.Here I quote his instructions:
Install the latest available drivers suld-driver-4.01.17.Printer and Scanner should now be usable with the distribution now.If you also would like to have the Samsung Unified Driver Configuration GUI, doinstall suld-configurator-2-qt4.
If you are trying to use your printer as a scanner, you will need to add yourself to the "lp" group after installing the appropriate packages. You will then to log out and back in for the change to take effect.
1- Downloaded the official Samsung Unified Driver from this page.
2- install the Samsung drivers by accurately following the steps in the Samsung manual.
3- open the terminal and write this command gksu gedit /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf, write down the password and add this two lines to the file: # Samsung SCX-3200 usb 0x04e8 0x3441it should be near to this save the file and close it.
4-also write this command in the terminal gksu gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules and add these two lines:
