Hey O-timers,

I start this week's O-mail with a sad but brilliant read attached, in the form of the obituary of Charles Lautenbach written by Glen Terry. Charles recently passed away and was a long time member and contributor to ROC and Orienteering in South Africa. Please do learn a bit more about this amazing person from the attached document.

A whOle bunch of updates are to be found this week; naturally including many reminders to pre-enter events. I was planning on sending this out yesterday but I was in Cape Town. And as cliche'd as it sounds, I was on "Cape Town" time.

Mohales Gate Mountain Marathon

Pre-Entries close midnight 18th July (tomorrow for other folks on CT time). Entries also available on the day. Event sheet attached. #Osome!

Hennops Hiking Trails - Bush 6 - 5th August

We've received the event sheet for the RACO event at Hennops, attached. Entries already open on Orienter. They have reduced the entry fees as far as possible, since you'll have to pay a venue fee on entry - R70. No doubt I'll see you all there!

Supporting other Orienteers who make beer

Although they are RACO stationed, TNT breweries are hosting an open day on the 21st of July. All the details regarding tickets and whatnot attached!

Modderfontein Reserve O-vent 16th September

We've received communication that the Phambile O-vent on the 16th of September has moved to Modderfontein Reserve. BONUS is though that it's on a new map!

Although: "With effect from today (12th of July), the Modderfontein parkrun is embargoed to all Orienteers wishing to do the event on the 16th."
