command and conquer generals and C & C generals zero hour, having difficulty running the game as its coming up with an error for Directx 8.1 required. I haven't got any issues running red alert 3 or other in the series. I have re downloaded latest directx but not having much luck. has anyone else had a similar experience?

how to install directx 11 windows 10

The problem is that the "or higher" refers to higher versions of DirectX 8/9, not higher versions of DirectX beyond 9. The game can't actually use the DirectX 10/11/12 that is installed on windows machines by default nowadays, so updating to the latest DirectX will not help you.

It seems Generals, specifically, has an issue with DirectX that is caused by a malfunctioning dll in the game folder that was actually left there from testing. If you go into the game folder, and delete the file "dbghelp.dll" there, this problem should be resolved.

I am having the same issues but the solution listed did not help. I installed the patch listed and It did not work. I still get the directx error. Any help would be helpful at this point I am out of ideas

Hello, this is kind of a pain to have to post this, but recently i had to reinstall windows, about 2 weeks ago since i got a new NvME SSD, and a Samsung 1TB SSD, so i installed my boot drive and installed Windows 11 from my old SSD, fast foward to getting everything installed, i wanted to play Hell Let Loose and Kenshi, but DirectX will not work for either, for Kenshi, it plays but has 0 audio. and for Hell Let Loose, it just wont play at all. But every other game seems to work just fine, which is super confusing. before reintalling Windows to my new SSD, i never had an issue with it. Now it seems i cannot get it to work whats so ever. Ive tried every fix from YouTube, everything on the first pages on Google, all of that. Ive factory reset my PC twice, and still nothing works. Heres the logs if anyone can help: DXError.logDirectX.log

nothing ive googled, seen, watched, done seems to work. When Hell Let Loose launches i get 3 or 4 different errors (all DirectX errors), a new game has started to act up too, Operation Harsh Doorstep, which i just downloaded off Steam, stops its launching process while its installing Microsoft DirectX

i have researched a bit on directx 8.0b on windows 95 but i could not really make sense on how to install it properly ( could not find a video showing how to update the dx files, install sdk properly, etc ).

to clarify this better, i have not done this completely yet, there were a few test systems where i installed the sdk portion, it installed successfully but i don't think i even did that part right and i didn't go any further with the files because i was scared that i would mess up something. what would happen if i simply replaced the old directx files with the newer directx 8.0b files? would this basically update directx 8.0a to "directx 8.0b" or it is not as simple as that?

has anyone done this before? i read that it doesn't have a direct impact on typical users but i would be so curious to know if there are any benefits it can give, i mean, wouldn't updating the directx 8.0a files to all those updated 8.0b ones with all the corrections just run games better, have less bugs, and just a more stable computer in general? if so, then why does it mentions its only for programmers, or am i wrong here?

like i said, i simply want to know if it has a direct impact or not on the stability / performance of the operating system but i have not found any people who personally used directx 8.0b and what differences they saw. from what i see, wouldn't the operating system still function better with the updated files from directx 8.0b vs 8.0a in all sense?

I'm installing Autocad 2010 on windows 7. I got a problem at the first step. It required to install DirectX 9.0 before Autocad 2010. But windows 7 included DirectX 11. Why this error happened ? How to fix this issue to continue the installation?

Thank in advance

Raghu.

Please find the attache setup log file. It is trying to install DirectX 9.0 Runtime and failed. But i have Direct X 11. I am using windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and i am trying to install 64 bit Auto CAD 2010.

The issue is not DirectX as it is ignored due to the existence of the later version. There should be another installation log file in addition to this as well that steps thru the installation process.
