We had our 15ft Phantom mounted at the base so well that when the tremendous winds hit about a week ago it literally bent the base instead of pulling the stakes out of the ground.  We hammered it all back but the welds busted in several places.  So i could technically connect everything back together but the base is still busted.  Any recommendations for how to fix it of how to better stabilize this thing?  We were thinking of using guy wires that we connect to the shoulders and tie to ground stakes or house pillars.  Any thoughts here?

Guy wires are definitely needed.  If you only have the base secured then the "ankle" area becomes the weak point as the figure sways in the wind.  The guy wires help prevent the swaying.

All this being said, I do not have any of these large figures personally.  I do have a megatree pixel prop that is about 10ft tall and catches the wind.   We have 3 guy wires attached at about the 7ft level.   Had no trouble for last 3 years.

Hope this helps.

What do you use for guy wires? Rope, twine, metal cables or just like 12-16 gauge steel wire?

Hit send too soon....

We also use the horseshoe clamps to loop the cable through the eye holes on both the tree and the ground stakes.

I use paracord. It allows a little flexibility but is plenty strong.

I found some screw into the ground anchors that are usually used for trampolines and then used paracord to attach to the shoulders of the phantom. Also, SVI was amazing and sent us replacement base pieces and supporting posts and charged us $20 for shipping.  We got them and he's back up and seems super stable.  My only complaint on the SVI animated yard decorations is that they default to "powered on" instead of turning on into any working state when plugged in.  If I lose power then I lose the animated/lighted part of these things.  I have the hovering witch too. This is something that I feel needs to be changed.  Then I can control when it is on and off with my own timers. If it loses and regains power then it comes back to life instead of just sitting there.  It's quite unfortunate.  Being able to adjust how the lights on the phantom worked would be nice too.  but oh well.  I guess rotating colors will have to do.  :D

Thanks for your help everyone!

Send a link to your screw in the ground anchors if you like them.  I could use some of those.
