Has anyone considered doing a slack group for RMH? I'm going to guess many of us are already on slack for one reason or another. It would be ideal for a group like this because you can have channels for specific interests.  It could even allow people who cross over between Halloween and Christmas to be on the same board chatting about one holiday in one channel and another in a separate channel. I'm biased because Facebook is not my cup of tea and I avoid it like the plague anymore. It's also not great at allowing separate thoughts and discussions to be happening at the same time and over longer periods of time.  Just a thought.  Thanks for listening!  :D

I will admit to not even knowing what a slack group is.

This may not be helpful:

It's a communication platform or a really advanced chat client that allows you to have a community held together in a group.  Many companies use it to allow their teammates to chat/call each other.  My work uses it with channels for each of our client projects.  We can discuss specific client needs and tasks that are being completed. Or we can go into the random channel and just discuss water cooler type stuff.  As a remote team it allows us to connect a little better.  I have a slack group for my work (each group I am apart of can have as many channels or sub groups as we want), a board gaming community, a Utah based Adobe Analytics community, my college alumni network, a work industry community of people who do the same type of work as me, and a group of friends who play fantasy football with each other.

I can view all of these in one app on my computer or phone and can keep in touch with all of these groups easily.  It really is a great platform for groups like this.

I'm game.  I'm in slack all day and I have no use for Facebook.

We tried slack a few years ago and most did not like it.

The direction of the Rocky Mountain Haunters is to focus on our annual gathering and building props and that is why "Slack" was not a good fit. Now if you wanted to set up and manage a "slack group", it certainly would be OK to notify both the Rocky Mountain Haunters and the Rocky Mountain Christmas Display group members and invite them. But it would be separate from both groups.

I would be willing to set it up and manage it if there are enough people who would be interested in joining.  Anyone else other than Phil and me interested?

Slack is a great platform and could have real benefits - private channels for the steering committee, schedules available for attendees in the palm of their hand, prop discussions on a channel, general questions, and on and on. FB is largely used by older people now, myself included.
