Bike lanes are so needed in the county of Rockwall, as well as
throughout the State of Texas. As a bike enthusiast and commuter, I
have had close calls with motorists and it is scary. I would love to
ride and not have to worry about a car hitting me -- or sometimes
worse, drivers getting angry that I'm sharing "thier" road. It's
ecologically and economically time for us to take to the roads on our
bikes, and we should have safe spaces to do so.

Bikelanes are fine, but they are not the overall answer to the problem. Everyone needs to know how to ride their bikes on roads, to follow the rules of the road and Cyclists fare best when they act and are treated as drivers of vehicles.
But for those less inclined to take to the streets the bikelanes might encourage them to get out and enjoy cycling. Know this too, bikelanes do not stop cars from hurting cyclists, a simple line is not enough to stop a car. Everyone should be careful and pay attention even in bikelanes.

Agreed. But with the increasing cycling community in the Rockwall
area and the amount of FM roads and lanes that have no shoulder, I
feel it makes it a necessity.

I have to ride 66 on the East side of I-30 in order to commute. It's
hilly and curvey which makes it really scary. I obey all traffic laws
and take every precaution necessary to be as safe as a cyclist can
be.

Not only does the cycling world need education on laws but so do the
motorists on the roads.
